Nice reaction! I call myself a Laraholic because I'm totally addicted to her! I just can't get enough! Lara is actually very humble...not demanding at all. She is also very gracious when singing with other singers that don't have the vocal power she has! She always tempers it down if needed so as not to "show anyone up!" She loves her fans as much as we love her and it's genuine!

I am a 65 year old geezer who have listned to prog music my whole life. Bands like YES..Genesis..Pink Floyd...Peter Gabriel..Mike Oldfield and many many moore. Then i came a cross Lara Fabian on the tube for 5-6 years ago...singing Adadio and Jesuis malade. I was blown away by her voice and her performing skills...and her beauty, i really must say. From that first moment i cant take my eyes from her when she sings...and that wonderful voice of hers...She can sing what ever...i`l be mesmerised even if she sang the IKEA cataloge. In my world she is untuchable nr. ONE. Great human...great vocalist...Great songwriter...Great artist...Great woman.❤❤❤

@David Hooks As you suggested I looked up internet and indeed there are many references to Lara having a vocal range of up to G6 but no reliable sources and no examples are quoted. I am a great admirer of Lara and have listened to virtually everything of hers I can lay my hands on but her "G6" has eluded me so far. Either I missed a rare gem or you should not unquestionably believe "information" you see on internet!

@David Hooks I appreciate your comments. Thank you. Yesterday I saw Ceci's (thrilling) reaction to Lara's Je Suis Malade. Itr truth, Lara could have a limited range, say from E3-E4 and still be one of the best ever because of the way she uses her voice.

Hello Matt, nice reaction! I've been a Lara Fan since 1995. That's what we call ourselves, Lara Fans. No cutesy nicknames like those that are so trendy these days. So, I've been following her career for over 26 years now and I can honestly say that there is nothing 'diva-ish' about her. She is so humble, so caring, so down to Earth, that is quite unique in the world of world class artists. I'm a trained singer, used to sing in a choir and did some back up singing in my prime (I was an OK singer, but nothing special to write home about LOL) and I'm 3 months older than Lara. I grew up idolizing Barbra Streisand (so is Lara) and Edith Piaf. I started to sing because of them and for a long time I was convinced that nobody would ever reach Babs' level in my lifetime. Then, in May of 1995 I was visiting a friend in Montreal. There was an upcoming, young female singer on a talk show promoting her new album 'Carpe Diem'. The host asked her to perform from her album the cover of 'Je Suis Malade' that was already making all the buzz. Lara started to sing and about 40 seconds into the song I was completely enthralled. By the end of her incredible performance I had to catch my breath, like if I was the one who just sang my heart out. I couldn't believe what I've just witnessed. Tears were running down on my face, so when my friend walked into the living room she thought that something bad happened to me. For a minute or two I couldn't even make a coherent sentence. Lara completely took both my breath and my words away with a single song. 26 years later I'm still in a thrall, still catching my breath and still tear up whenever I see her sing. Lara is a living legend, a true icon in every sense of the word both as an artist and as a wonderful human being. Oh, and about reaching the level of Barbra Streisand, in my eyes Lara is more than equal to Babs. I'll even go as far as declare Lara a more complete artist than Streisand. I know, that's near blasphemy, but I think I can back up my claim with these links below. Four LIVE performances in 4 different genres. All masterpieces and all of them flawless. Great reaction Chris, you're a guy with a big sensitive soul. Lara doesn't sing in a classical style, so doesn't have that squillo that operatic singers use to project across the pit, but she really know how to sing with a big orchestra, and her stage presence is totally magnetic. She is a beautiful woman, of course, but more than 'sexy' she is sensual. Her ability to stand with her vulnerability is peerless. She is a wonderful communicator.

Dear Matt, Lara Fabian is far from a diva. I watched it all winter on the STAR ACADEMY show of which she is the general manager and it is a woman's jewel. She led about thirty young people who were in awe of this humble (and beautiful) woman. She is an incredibly simple woman who communicates so well with the young singers she has directed. As for Igor Krutoy and Lara Fabian, they work together and compose music like YOUR LOVE by Dimash and MADEMOISELLE HYDE on which Lara Fabian composes the lyrics. Diva has many meanings. For Lara, it refers to her being one of the premier singers of all time, and not someone with an attitude. It is used for opera singers too. I don't call her a diva because is isn't just one of the best...She IS the best!

Lara in my opinion is really closer to Streisand than to Celine Dion - to whom she`s compared more often. Lara and Celine both competed in the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest, which Celine won. Lara is one of my favorite singers in the whole world and has been for now almost 5 years. I've listened to all her music I could find. This song is awkward and a little ...meh to me. I think this song is meant to be in French and not in English: something is off. But then again Lara can do whatever she wants and it'll still be awesome.

There's nowhere to hide, and failure is excruciating. In the crucible of performance, the singer must find stillness within. The ego must be intact, in order to serve the audience. So while there are no doubt some maniacs, they tend not to have long careers, and we shouldn't be too hard on the foibles of the performers that stay the course. We expect them to dredge their deepest emotions for our entertainment, and be naked, so to speak, before us. So if they need a humidifier, or a dressing room above ground level, or a massive tub of tutti frutti to get them on stage, then so be it. Being a diva, and having nothing to deliver, that's a different matter. But music is a collaborative endeavour, like no other, and soloists rely on a band and a crew to showcase their skills. The singers I've known have generally been the most generous and empathetic of people, and others who work with them understand the difficulty of what they do, and support them.

I think Diana Ankudinova did a better job with a more stripped down version…..just Igor on the piano & no backing singers & 50 piece orchestra! Diana’s voice is much richer & she sings with more emotion & embellishments & her stagecraft is unequalled!

Diana Ankudinova is brilliant but the two versions, including singing voices are so different that they can't be compared, in my opinion.
