My dad works at Sony Picture Animation, and his division today had some of the hack problems. They are trying to fire the person who is causing a lot of the people who are getting laid off.

Why are people shitting on Sony? Sony isn't exactly synonymous with corrupt. Just imagine what dirt Microsoft, Disney, Ubisoft, EA and the countless other corporations are hiding. Personally I don't want to know, I've heard more Walt Disney horror stories than I can count.

People seem to forget what corporations are. Unlike the state which is elected and should serve the citizens, a corporation is a small business started only to serve the entrepeneur who envisioned it, which then grew large. It has one goal only and that goal is profit. Perhaps because they try too hard with charity and other stuff, we sometimes forget that they are someone's way of making money, and thus react shocked when we hear such reports. There is nothing corrupt in making decisions which bring in more money, when the whole idea of the corporation is to make money.

There's no chance that North Korea was responsible for this hacking. The only people in the country with access to computers are a select few government officials, and I seriously doubt that those computers are very good, or that anyone there knows how to use them very well.

This is why its annoying as fuck that every company and their mothers have you create an account. You have your Rockstar Social club account, Your Bioware ID, Your Uplay account, Xboxlive, PSN, Nintendo club, Steam account, WB account, ect. The only ones that are remotely useful are the main platform accounts that have all your games/saves attached to them. The Social club is optional at least and can port your GTA file from last gen to new gen, and Bioware lets you recreate your choices in future dragon age/mass effect games . All the rest are piss poor exuses to sell your Email spam and Uplay actually cuts content from the game and regives it to you through stupid ass Uplay achievements as an excuse to lock down your PC Ubisoft games with DRM. What a crock of shit.

How can it be a bad thing that Sony is trying to maximize profits. They've got plenty of failing divisions. Making more money from a division that is successful like Sony films is smart. I have said it before and will say it again, Sony is not in financial trouble at all. It's large, has several huge markets in which they are active ( insurance, household appliances, TVs, mobile phones, consoles, movies and music etc.) that it's actually incredibly unlikely for them to do horrible. Yes a lot of profit gets reinvested in other branches of the mother company and yes Sony isn't the stock market shooting-star Apple is (which is a bubble bound to burst someday) , but Sony is actually fairly healthy and doing fine.
