I find it astonishing that they can still make any money (profit) when you see what goes on to just dig the ore out of the ground. All that massive machinery, the running costs, maintenance etc etc. The numbers involved must be astronomical, billions of $

Mines think they make $4000 US an hour. They burn about 5000L or 1300g for 24 hours. One tire cost 50k a piece and they last for 4000 hours if lucky. Probably $3200 an hour.

I did it here in Australia driving 789D Trucks and the first 2.5 yrs I loved it, the next year I drove was tough as it became very monotonous and boring, but that being said I was in a mine site that had only 1 Pit and around 20 trucks running, so a small operation compared to many other Mines, I'm glad I did it though.
