When we were dating my future wife and I were driving along PCH in Laguna to this song. We turned up 133 and went to the Laguna Bowl where LC was performing. (I had it set up) When she heard this song she was blown away. We eventually married and 29 years later we're still listening to it. We still have Smiles and Smiles to Go!!

Very cool! I remember when I first heard this song in the late 80s. Smooth jazz on the radio was such a pleasure to listen to. IMHO, Larry Carlton and Earl Klugh would make an impressive high class guitar talent combo.

took me almost 20 yrs to get all the changes .once i learned a bunch of new chords , finally i found the mistery chord in bracketts starting with the 4 chord - Cmag7 , ( F9/ C to Cm7 ) , Bm7 , A #mag 7., A minor 7 , b minor 7 , A#mag 7 , then the modulation to D#11 to G#mag7 2x ,then A mag7 F#minor7 to D minor 7 to G11 , C minor 7 to F minor 7 . ,A minor 7 , B minor 7 , ,A #mag 7 , D 11 , BACK to G mag7 . that was a few years ago now , Larry knows his way around his changes flawlessly. i did,nt have a chart for this , i had to really listen , it was a bugger for sure .ok enjoy

I recently started getting into Larry Carlton's music. I wonder why I did not starting listening to him sooner. This man is an absolutely amazing musician.

An amazing inspiration to so many players of every genre. LC's sense of melody and choice of notes are uniquely his own.

A true master at work. One of my favorite pieces of music. Larry spoke about being in "the zone" in one of his interviews - and yes he was in the zone here. You can tell the notes go right from his head or heart and directly to the fretboard.

Was in love for the 1st time when this song came out. We didn't last When I hear this song it's so bittersweet.

I been a friend of Larry's and fan since the late 70s why would anyone not like this acoustic performance?? Like really to all that thumbs downed this I would really like to hear you play guitar?? I bet half of you or more can't even tune one! He's a mentor hero...

This is one song that can't help but to make you feel good. I've never seen LC play it live, and after seeing him do so, he plays it just how it feels.

We had to come up with a name for our wellness walking team at work...I suggested "smiles and smiles to go". Told them it was the name of a song they most likely never heard of. They asked if it was on youtube and I found this. He just got 6 new fans. This was the first CD I ever bought back in 1986. Loved it then...love it still.

I love this song, but the bubble shuffle is still my favorite song of his. I still have to laugh after all of these years, but I started my love of his music and jazz in general when I used to work in SeaWorld here in Florida and they would play both songs I've mention on loop. Lol. I totally thought he used an electric guitar on this song until this video. lol

The 'guy on shaker' is the late saxophonist Hollis Gentry lll, an amazing player I grew up with. I'd like to find more tracks from this concert, where Hollis gets a chance to blow.

Love this song. It is so lively and the group is really in sync. When I first heard it on air, I immediately phoned the station to get all the details from the DJ. From then until now I still love LC on the track and thank the DJ.

One of my very favorite songs of all time from any era or any genre. The ultimate groove topped with guitar riffing as only Larry can do it! Met him at various shows. Super approachable, as nice & down to earth a guy as you could hope to meet! He'll actually just hang out & talk w/o the 'Help me escape" look to friends/mgnmt or the constant watch staring! Saw him w/Lukather, caught both sets that night. Insanely good & fascinating seeing Luke so respectful of him! Ahhh, the day's not so bad now!
