English here and appreciated the humo(u)r. It's possible to be familiar enough with American culture from the outside to get the stereotype of WASPy Republican country club types. I can't know if I got every single reference, but I got enough that I can see this scene is packed full of them.

Also, the reasons why this show is so good are far more than just references to pop and American culture. So much so, that I would bet not even 80% of Americans get them, understand them and therefore like the show. It’s clear that this show and type of comedy is not for everyone.
