Lars mains are going through the Jin struggle, this is our Tekken 5. We had our Tekken 3 in 6, and our Tekken 4 in tag, now we suffer by Bandai's hand.

Instead of buffing Lars's damage give everyone his damage.

Strangely, this doesn't seem to have hurt Lars' popularity too bad. I've seen him online far more than Bob, who is undeniably better, tier-wise.

Rather than buffing Lars too much, they should buff him slightly and nerf the rest of the cast. Characters should be closer to Lars in terms of strength than Leroy.

It's a little frustrating to see my favorite character like this. This doesn't stop me from use him, it's been 11 years since I started to use Lars, and I never drop him.

I don’t agree about the damage He has an easy 70 dmg combo on all his normal launchers and 72 on all his ch launchers Lars gets 72-76 in open air depending on whether you go for micro-dash combos His only bad launchers are df2 and ur3 which are never his optimal whiff or block punishes. For whiff you use fb21 and for block you use f1+2. Ff1+2 also gets him 67 if you do an easy staple At the wall he gets 90-100 depending on filler. I agree with most of your other critiques but all it takes is a single viewing of any random Lars bnbcombo video to see that Lars averages above 70 for most launches and above 94 for most wall combos. Even in season 1 Lars averaged 66 with most launchers

Just gunna make one statement to main mans damage with lars, lars damage is actually above 70 on standard combos the combos shown in the vid aren’t actually optimal combos so don’t read to much in to that damage is actually alright. 14f launch can do 72, orbital can do 78 if I remember right. They honestly sorted damage out for Him to be about where season 3 average is.

Good stuff main man. As a Lars main, I somehow agree with everything in this video. His movelist is terrible and risky for high level plays for some reason. But here's the thing. Not all players are aware of Lars' strengths and weaknesses especially during the fighting phase and I kept that in mind in every matches. High level or not. Reminds me of Lowhigh. He plays Shaheen more but I can tell he has a strong Lars too. Also Only Practice he is a Nina player but his Lars is too Strong. So just like what Arslan Ash said, there is no worst Character cause it all depends on how you use it.

Lars neutral is awful he only has 1, df1 b1 2,1 f3,1 everything is simply not gonna help you poke. He always loses his turn otherwise he can barely get into dynamic and silent entry is too obvious at high level without being interrupted. “You have a backlash” that thing is slow as fuck it’s also -9 block while Hwoarang is faster and plus on block. Also Akuma has an unbreakable air grab which Lars has one too but guess what you can break it with 1+2 like come on. Why does ff1+2 not allow screw on ch when it’s not a screw move ??? Lars season 4 need more transitions out of moves like 2,1 and a better rage drive that isn’t locked behind his stances.

Lars can do 70 damage from any launcher with a simple staple combo, this is not the real problem of the charscter. Just give him a decent counter hit and one more homing move

I’ve been playing Lars since the beginning of Tekken Tag 2. The best parts of his tool set are about high crushing, whif punishing, and high risk high reward 50/50s. the worst parts of his tool set are how punishable he is, how slow some of his 50/50s are, and how he has to play more reckless to receive the damage output that most characters can already do while still playing relatively safe. Still, playing Lars as a main for so many years really taught me how to play better (being so underpowered with a low tier character in T7). I hope they give him buffs but I’m nit complaining about his current state either.

the missing puzzle in Lars gameplay is allowing his high/mid attacks to give him many plus frames on hit or block.. this way his the barrier to access his stances or demanding input moves can be more easier by utilizing the plus frames..

Tactics against Lars, do a muscle memorized low parry into ws after each of his jabs or do a low parry into normal block, works on 99% of his strings, which in case he goes for, you block and punish.

Lars has enormous combo damage. His fc df2 does 95 damage without Walls. His bnb for most standard launchers gives 74, 72 if you end with sen df1 for oki. And to add to this, it’s extremely easy to convert to the wall at any stage during the combo.

I don't need B4 to launch since i like the attack throw. But it should have way better frames, more dmg and maybe track to his right. His stance lows should be safer on block and fcdf2 should do more dmg and be faster. Yeah and a second RD that is good (Should be his old df2 with the input df2+3), also better df4 that is an alternative to his df1.

Well, I understand this video is based on his opinions about Lars. It is true that the character isn't oppressive when it comes to his offense. Mainman said it himself said that Lars' defensive tools are decent. So wouldn't that mean Lars is better suited for defensive play? Pester the opponent with pokes to get a reaction, and then go from there? Turtling with Lars and mounting an assault when the opportunity arises is the general strategy. And I agree his CH game in the neutral is lacking, but it doesn't make him the worst character in the game. Personally, I think he's fine the way he is--but some buffs would be beneficial. -- His d/f+4 could be armed with a CH property. -- Bringing back his old 1+2 would be useful. It has some high crushing perks, and it's cancellable. Work in some mind games. -- Making d/f+2,1 hit confirmable. -- His d/b+1,3 (d/b+1,3~D) can atleast be 0 or +2 on hit.

Yup that's my main since S1. I've gotten my ass kicked all around this game but I still improve where I can. Ranked can be incredibly stressful tho because it honestly feels like you're trying to win a gun fight with only a knife, but my Lars is pretty solid.

Im a Lars main even tho my Main is Drag, and lars is my sub i like just lars more. So in this comment im gonna type three buffs i would favor in season 4. He needs more buffs then just three but still these three could be a good help to him. 1. I would say that lars should get a cancel from silent entry, because if the enemy is in rage while you are in silent entry he can just throw out a RA and youre gonna take 55 dmg or more from that RA or the RA from Paul boi oh boi its gonna hurt. Also his cancel from silent entry would help him to do more mix up or helps him to go in his FC mix up. So basicly what im trying to tell in this comment is that Lars should get a cancel from silent entry to help him at his mix ups. 2. He just needs some tracking move that in his stands or in his normal standing like his old b2,1 from tekken 6 or his old 1,2 that tracked, etc. just a move that tracks and fast with some dmg i would say. 3. I would change his FC df2 into his standing df2 and his standing df2 into his FC df2 so he has his old move again but also his new move in FC so he can still do a mix up from FC and that mix up could be even stronger then his mix up now. gonna chime in with the overkill gigas throw. it works like a sudo mad axes where you can do some movement before you hit the f, 1+2 so you can dash/backdash/sidestep before you connect the throw when you do the first inputs of the throw

Optimal combo of orbital is DE 2 then df 3 to SE 1 then you bound

Lars may not be so good in tournament against top players but I think he's absolutely fine at all other levels of play. He still has insane crushing, block punishment, wall carry, combo damage, jab and d/f+1 pressure. Maybe some top players can react to d/b+4 offline but your average online joe is not gonna be reacting to it

Good job at highlighting Lars' weaknesses. He needs buffs for sure, but has more redeeming qualities other than decent punishment. His stances have more value than you think.

Idk whether you did this video because I wrote that comment or you might already planned it since long ago (which more likely to be the case), but nevertheless really appreciate this video and hoping you'd make more in depth character analysis to close the curtain of S3. As a Lars main, I found this educational and heart breaking, but I still enjoy playing him despite the fact that he is the lowest of the low. Lars simply doesn't translate well with the new mechanics. He was more or less designed around the bound system in T6 and tag2 but he's not well suited to the new game T7 is. Lars has bad sidestep, easy to Sidestep right, has gaps in his 50/50s and super risky lows, poor tracking, but at the same time, he can be very creative to play as so I mean he's honest so if you can win with him. It's more your fundamental skill, and less being carried by him.

Im gonna have to disagree on lars damage, lars can get 67-68 damage from every launcher if your combos are optimized

Too much Lars simping in the comments. He sucks, lacks pressure, lacks any good CH launchers, his keep-outs are useless, his orbital is so slow that practically any character can knock you out of it with any string, his db+4 is so slow and you're dead on block, his fastest "decent" move is f 1+4 at 13f and even that is too slow, his "punish" is 1,2 or 2,1,x for a measly 17 or 20 damage, his b 4,3 is too slow to be a decent whiff punisher, his b+1 misses practically everything and lacks range, and if you're fighting a Lars all you need to do is constantly hit him with your fastest moves because the only thing he can do to react is crouch and hope for a WR launch or CH, which you can inevitably stop by just pressing any buttons. The moment you see him enter stance you can jab him out of it with your fastest mid. I hope they fix him in T8 because if not I probably won't play the game

We probably aren't going to get better movement, but what I think Lars needs is some range tweaks on his launchers, some less risky lows, and a new standing CH launcher, maybe a new plus on block move. For his lows, either db13 needs to go for a new -13 low (maybe something similar to Hei's DB2) or make his other lows less risky like FF43 being -14 with less damage, and maybe his db4 be made a true snake edge with tracking and natural launch but keep the frames as is. B4 is decent but I can't tell you how many times I've had that move miss at odd angles and even some close ranges for whiff punishes. They should fix the hitbox on that thing.

You can enter FC with d+2 and holding down. Neutral on block. It's a nice trick I use.

Do this: on wiff punish use B3,4> SE3(on block/block stun)> DF3,3(SE1, >staple combo if opponent hits the wall) or >SE2+3> F1+4. Like 68-70 damage. And always use D2 on wake up. It's like Heihachi's F4 on block. Good Knockdown pressure. As a seriously good Lars main. I'm really starting to feel the burn here. And it really sucks to have to work that hard this character is very limited. I'm going to Main Marduk again for a while, til something good happens for Lars. Hell maybe even Negan and Akuma.

Probably an unpopular opinion: they need to change Arc Blast. It's supposed to be his signature move. Unlike hopkick's and some df2's, it doesn't possess any crushing ability and is easier to react to and punish. Personally I would like to see Arc Blast more like Ravens crusader. Lars already has plenty of launch options.

I refuse to believe Lars is the worst in the game. I see so many ppl play him and his gimmicks are annoying. He also has a lot of built in defense/crushing in his moves

Gigas would get more love if his default skin would be a gorilla. All his moves like the power crush intimidation mimic a gorilla and not a fake tentacle steroid man.
