You nailed Fountain bleu. its being managed as a 1) Hotel and conference center 1st 2) a resort, restaurant, and party destination 2nd 3) finally being ran as a casino. As some one who stayed shortly after the grand opening week; I couldn't quite describe the feeling or ambiance inside but that's it right there.

My 2 cents on MGM filling a lawsuit to stop the probe: Casinos need gamblers to get players cards in order to obtain personal information on how each individual plays a particular game. This allows them to calculate the players theoretical loss, or the casinos theoretical edge. This data also helps them gauge how much to give out in comps. If gamblers stopped getting players cards due to fear of the casinos getting hacked again, then the casino will lose access to valuable player Information. Suing seems to be a way to prevent the public from knowing just how severe the situation was, and for them to sweep everything under the rug. A loss of trust between players and casinos is a casinos biggest thumbscrew. Players personal data is a casinos life blood.

I watch a video blog on Vegas and they said exactly what he said about Fountainbleu. Beautiful place and empty during the week. They said they don't aggressively match comps, don't have special deals, they just think being beautiful and the newest is enough. They said Resorts World was the same and are just starting to come around with promotions. I checked Fountainbleu rates midweek and it was $350. I can get comped by Delano for $60/night in tax and facilities fee for a two room, 1 1/2 bath suite, and I got their lowest level rewards.

We ran into Anthony and George Kalos (sp?) in between filming a Travel Channel show at Sahara way back in December 2003. Like Anthony, we didn't want to be "that guy" so we just watched from a distance. Anthony spotted us and went out of his way to come over to introduce himself and George and we had a very nice conversation. He didn't have to do that but he struck me as such a nice, down to earth guy. Thanks Anthony! Great interview - great stories; thanks for posting. Zk

The problem is that cyber security pros have to be right every time... the criminal only has to be right 1 time. Also, cyber teams spend millions hardening the technology, but 80% of hacks get in through social engineering people. The MGM hackers called into first level IT support dozens of times impersonating employees until they got one support member to forgo verification questions before resetting the fake employees password.

The hack showed how incredibly incompetent the MGM and Caesars IT people actually were. FYI Curtis is wrong about Fontainebleau regarding the games. I played $100 3-2 blackjack on the floor on a friday night no different than Bellagio. The issue for these guys is that ALL the chips have RFID in them, even the $1 chips. So they're tracking all bets and I'm willing to bet they're tracking the cards too, so they have software to identify card counters.

They said there was one on the main floor, but I swear I circled those pits five times and couldn't find it before walking out and hitting up Resorts World instead. The property and interior are gorgeous at FB but I swear I've never seen a more confusing casino layout in my life

Kids today don't get enough credit for how smart they really are. We as older people and even as young as 26 see these kids as braindead TikTok goofballs, and many are. But the ones that actually have a head on their shoulders are the ones that are doing these crazy hacks. A 15 year old hacked and stole source code from Rockstar Games with a motel Internet connection, a smart TV and a cell phone. And now MGM and Ceasar. Never underestimate the brain power of our young people

When I got back on my exit interview they asked if I had a friend that needed a job would I recommend them. I said, "Not if I want to keep them as a friend". They sweat the money something awful. Ransom ware hackers won't sell the data if they get paid, it increases the likelihood that they will get paid in future hacks. If they still sold the data, then there's less incentive for future companies to pay the ransom.
@Mike37551

This seems like a false sense of security. Eventually, there will be foolproof ransomware defenses, and the hacker’s scheme will no longer be viable. When they can no longer run any fresh ransomware attacks, there’s a pretty high probability they will sell all of the data they’ve collected over the years to monetize what’s left of their business.

Either way the Groups that took over mgm and various vegas casinos still have all of that information they don't just take over your computer and ask for the money. They’re trying to salvage the city with sports but why would anyone go to Vegas to watch sports when they can go to a game in their own state? I think mgm making 42 million a day has a better grasp of the market place than you and theyre building. City is and will be popping for years. If you cant afford it doesnt mean others cant. Same with hospitslity. Its a tip town. I have a Noir card. I get the best service anyone could ask for. I message my host new years eve morning and can get a room that night for the holiday and its comped including food and beverages and shows, spa. Same with restaurant reservations Saturday 8 pm when requested Saturday at 4 pm. Really couldnt ask for better service. Vegas is dying if you are looking for a bargain getaway. FIFY. Learn to tip is my suggestion. Most those workers feed their families on tips amd you come in trying to order 8 beers and tip a buck or 2. Id be rude too. Early 90s Rio was hot. Kinda of like what the Palms would become 10 years later. The Marnells opened and built it. Very respected name in the city. They got a lot of PR when they opened bcuz every room was a suite and also it was huge deal in media the uniforms the cocktail waitresses wore. It was essentially a skimpy top with a thong bikini type bottom. It wasnt that risque but i remember that being in papers or news constantly with womens right lib ppl. Also having been born and raised in Vegas i can say the Rio was 1st hotel-casino to openly promote a nightclub on their property. Thurs-Sun they turned showroom into club that was insanely popular and run by Stevie D who had huge role with later clubs like Pure at Caesars or Light at Bellagio. Now its super common every casino to have nightclub but NOONE was doing it when Rio debuted. They kickstarted the megaclub/daypool experience. It was super cool casino with great restaurants as well. Soon as Marnells sold it went to shit.
