An Italian relative told me once that for every can of tomatoes or tomatoes you should add 5mls of sugar to counteract the acidity of the tomatoes. The fresh tomatoes are usually ok but if we add canned tomatoes or pasata then we need to add sugar. We are a little bit of a mixed bag family. Irish Italian Newcastle 😂😂 great video again Ian ❤

Hi Sharon, I have done this before, but as usual I forgot to do so, old age kicking in 😂 thank you 😊

Made that look nice and easy Ian. Making the sauce the day before is a good idea. Means just building the lasagne when I come home. I know most people like the air fryers these days but the oven makes everything look and taste better. Some of us still use ovens and its great to see you using it today Ian.
@BeddyEatsFoodКүн бұрын
Hi Gillian thanks so much, we do try and not use our gadgets all the time for that exact reason 👍 recipes that can be done in oven or stove top, sometimes it's easier and quicker to use the air frier but appreciate not everyone has one 😊👍

I love my Ninja Foodi 15-in-1 multicooker and also have a large air fryer, but find the biggest problem with them is space. No way could you fit a large, family-sized lasagne like that in one! I find I can't get certain joints of meat in them either, eg a leg of lamb. So as good as the kitchen-top gadgets are, I don't think they'll ever totally take over from the conventional oven - they are a very useful add on, IMO. I mostly use them for quick, convenience things like oven chips, burgers, sausages, bacon, ready made pies and fish. They are much faster than the oven, use less energy and keep cooking smells down, 'cos it's a closed unit. The Ninja does the best whole roast chicken (with a probe thermometer, so it times itself, great when you're feeling lazy), and cooks salmon fillets perfectly in around 7 minutes. Great for fast, crispy roast potatoes too, and combined with the microwave will do you a lovely express jacket potato.

A different take on my Lasagne. I put mushrooms in mine, and a couple of OXO cubes. I also layer the bechamel sauce in with the meat and Lasagne sheets. Then I top it with Grated Cheddar - can't abide Parmesan - YUK ! Anyway, yours looks lovely, and it's quite an easy dish to create. Thanks for sharing this recipe - I'll give it a try your way 🙂
@naturalist70222 күн бұрын
I agree with the OXO, sprinkled on the meat whilst browning, adds depth of flavour. Gotta love a good lasagna!😋

Hi Michael, I have done similar before that's the great thing about any recipes, you can adapt to your own tastes and preferences 😊👌

If you want agreat vegetarian one using different sized mushrooms with a Kallo stock cube (I’m a bit of a stock cube freak I take a nibble of this flavour and that one and mix them into alovely before bed drink, I haven’t slept this well in years) but if take a third of tomato and herb 1/2 a shroom and 1/3 of a veg stock cube you’ll make an amazing stock for a veggie based dish, also adding little nibbles of the stock cube to the bovril cubes (I use q1/2 a cube per drink and a nibble of tomato and herb and mushroom is lovely in a 300ml mug is agreat bed time drink add some garlic and onion granules and it’s like a beautifully simmered broth)

You need a meat masher for the mince, once you've used one you'll never go back to a wooden spoon for it 😉 Im afraid I had to skip through the scraping, its not because it's noisy its the actual noise it makes lol xx
