I was brought up as replace and starting doing cash audits and P&L reviews when the numbers didn't add up. I was told it was systems error, but they didn't make sense. What's worst? As a business owner and as someone who has worked in management most of my life I would have caught this. These are very large refunds totaling more than what this store does in a single day of sales. I don’t know what program the store uses to reconcile their daily transactions but total sales and total refunds would show up at the end of the day when the store runs their reports and assuming the manager was the one doing the deposit they would have noticed a discrepancy that large. If this employee was doing smaller refunds under 100.00 over an extended period of time, it would have been harder to catch.
