In this video we review differences between gaussian distribution and top hat distribution, and how that affects welding. Gaussian distribution beam is more likely to produce deep narrow weld, and could produce keyhole porosity. Top hat distribution will produce a wide and shallow weld can produce welds that have a smooth surface.
