Review of different options for pulse shapes including the square pulse and other pulse shapes features that can be used to reduce welding defects. Pulse shaping allows user to control different aspects of the weld including peak power, pulse width, downslope, and stabilization zone. Ramp down can allow the keyhole to close gradually and thus significantly reduce keyhole porosities.
