Selecting a laser extract hose duct is important to acheive the best extract rates for your extract fan, its also important to think about "what if I have a fire". In this video i will answer all of them. Also reducing the resistance of the air makes the fan work as designed so I hope it will last longer as it will run cooler.

Awesome video Andy, very informative! I'm using the same smooth aluminum pipe, and you're absolutely right about the difference in resistance. As soon as I switched mine, not even a burn smell in the house from the basement.

Thanks I know when I first installed the pvc one I was not doing the fan any favours, but that's what I had sitting in a box.

My old hose broke last week. It was similar to the first one you measured. While browsing at the hardware store for a new one I was literally holding the new one you have there in my hands but opted for the old one because I knew what I was getting. Since I did not take it out of its packaging yet, I guess I should return it and get the smooth one instead.

Yes please replace it. Not only will the fan work better but should you have a fire hopefully it will remain in your enclosure. Please update me when you have it fitted

Hi, I need to get some of that smooth bore ducting, I have the stuff you had before, and it's not good enough. Can you please tell me where you purchased it, and a possible product name/manufacturer so I can get some?

Search for aluminium air duct. I found it in my local big box store. It all depends where in the world you are. B&Q, Walmart, technomat, homebase, Amazon.
