It's very important that the gantry is square to the frame. I have covered this in other videos. If you ever have your stepper motors grid / miss steps, like when the head crashes into the side of the frame, and your stepper make a strange loud noise like gears grinding, you would need to check your gantry squareness again. Its an easy process which I have covered in two videos. See videos 2 and 22

you should have the frame perfectly 90 to itself not the lower frame.. So you ensure the laser move in exact90 to itself.

Absolutely. I have covered squaring up the frame and your honeycomb bed in other videos. To square up my frame I used tin foil

I don't have limit switches. So no you don't have to update. One of the advantages is that the MKS laser app now works on my phone, not that I use it

Sorry about the hard ending of this video, my poor editing. But is just shows you how quick you can now remove/replace the laser module. I hope with this upgrade you will clean your laser more.

Awesome video Andy, very informative! I'm using the same smooth aluminum pipe, and you're absolutely right about the difference in resistance. As soon as I switched mine, not even a burn smell in the house from the basement.

My old hose broke last week. It was similar to the first one you measured. While browsing at the hardware store for a new one I was literally holding the new one you have there in my hands but opted for the old one because I knew what I was getting. Since I did not take it out of its packaging yet, I guess I should return it and get the smooth one instead.
@FlixmyswitchLASER4 ай бұрын
Yes please replace it. Not only will the fan work better but should you have a fire hopefully it will remain in your enclosure. Please update me when you have it fitted

Hi, I need to get some of that smooth bore ducting, I have the stuff you had before, and it's not good enough. Can you please tell me where you purchased it, and a possible product name/manufacturer so I can get some?

Search for aluminium air duct. I found it in my local big box store. It all depends where in the world you are. B&Q, Walmart, technomat, homebase, Amazon.

I disagree. I think the manual says to place the focusing column on the laser module. The picture in the calibration section of the manual has the focusing column under the laser module. If it was under the frame the focusing module would be further out (closer to the camera). "Then place the focusing column vertically on the bottom of the laser head form the rear side, and manually lift the laser head so that the bottom of the rear side of the laser is close to the upper surface of the calibration column."
@FlixmyswitchLASER4 ай бұрын
Yes i talk about this 1mm step, and in the sticky note in the comments i also talk about where to put the focus block. Yes on the laser module and not on this step

Hi Bob. I only have a 10w and find it amazing. Add an enclosure, extract fan to prevent the smoke entering your work environment. Air assist is very handy you get cleaner and deeper cuts. A honeycomb bed is also very useful. If you do get one get InTouch before you do.
