That's very true. It's easy to forget that there was a time where there was no digital circuits yet we still had fully functioning multi-featured electrical products

In Techmoan's unit the mirror was also attached at just three points. Maybe it helps with the randomness of the effect.

Hey Custardo!!! That makes sense, as it's two wires it cannot react to the axis (and it's mono anyway) so perhaps the three connections give it a bit more sideways wobble.

How about converting the motor to run continuously, but at a variable speed? Perhaps10 rpm?

That would be great. Maybe you could add a mechanism to index it and then on each beat flip the colour
