For patients in their 50’s we recommend lens replacement surgery. Psoriatic arthritis should not affect the outcome of lens replacement surgery.

Male, aged 68, 50 year Boston contact lens wearer, early cataract detected. I had premium Johnson and Johnson Synergy multi-focal lens X2, femtosecond PLR (also known as IOL or RLE) in Toronto, Canada last May. Reading distance excellent. Distance not corrected to desired sharpness - astigmatism still evident - residual refractive error of OS 0.50 diopters, OD 0.75 diopters. so having LASIK touch up this month. Very happy to have eliminated contacts, which were a major source of dry eyes. Having not worn contacts for past 8 months, my eyes feel comfortable at all times, no longer feel dry. Thank you for your many videos, Dr. Wong.

Good video. Just two critiques. One I wish you would have talked more about PRK as an option. Two, if I type “Night Vision Problems Lasik” into KZfaq I can find dozens of accounts of people (who underwent modern all-laser custom Lasik) who say they have permanent night vision issues, in some cases debilitating preventing them from driving at night. While this may be rare or not happen in your experience, I think you should have presented that more as a possible complication than you did in the video

Shannon Wong, MD Question - I was told years ago that since I have Psoriatic Arthritis I couldn't get Lasik because there is a chance my eyes won't heal. Is that correct ? A different eye doctor told me I shouldn't do Lasik anyway because I have Cataracts in both eyes and I should just do a lens replacement. However the doctor said I should wait as long as I can in time before I get that done. The problem with waiting is I'd like to improve my vision before I get to old. I am currently 52 until July 12th. What are your thoughts ? I used to love to play pool and I can't play with my glasses on and it's to blurry to see anymore without glasses. Hope to hear back from you - Love your channel.
