I've been following your videos for the past year or more and would have had you do my eyes if you were in Seattle. Anyway they've been done for 3-4 months the result didn't go well and now Dr. is recommending redoing the LAL+'s. Should I be getting a second opinion on this? Anyone you might recommend in Seattle?

I’m in UK with cataract, searching through maze of what’s best for me, consulted one surgeon but realised they’re tied to one lens supplier only. Is that normal?

Hi Dr. Wong, I have done a few CV3 and have had good results. I noticed you are using these for post refractive patients, how many have you done and are there any considerations (HOA, flat/steep Ks) that you use as a cut off? Thank you for your advice!!

I've placed about 130 Clearview to-date. Best estimate is that about 25-30 have been in post LASIK eyes. If topography is relatively normal, thus far results seem normal. No RK eyes yet.

Great presentation with all the latest IOL options. I do like the Light Adjustable Lens. But Dr Wong mentioned that that one may still need reading glasses. That makes me think that maybe I need to wait a bit longer…

Great video. Excellent presentation. I wish I was in the state of Texas instead of New Hampshire. The other problem is that those lenses are made from unaffordabtanium! They are far more expensive than most people can afford and Medicareless certainly won't cover them.

In an article in "Nature" they post that most ophthalmologists (>60%) if they require IOL themslves will choose a monofocal lens, preferring low complications to the avoidance of needing glasses.

Thank you so much for this video! I'm scheduled to have the Apthera implanted in a week and was wondering if it would do more than a mono focus topic sense to improve my near vision asn my doctor said it would. I have an irregular astigmatism in that eye and and Eyhance recently placed in my dominant eye that gives me fairly good near fission but readers for fine tasks and script would be needed if the Apthera didn't give more near vision.

Hello doctor. It would be highly appreciated if you would answer my question 🙏🏻❤️.. Well I had a Lasik surgery 4 weeks ago on my left eye and 2 weeks ago I got a lens implant on the other eye and I have a hyperhidrosis condition; I use an iontophoresis machine for that (on my feet and palms only) and when I asked my surgeon about it he said he has no idea about that machine so I'm asking you if it's safe to use this machine now because I'm a bit hesitant thinking that it might interfere with my eye healing.

It's not really about which one is best; it's about which one you can afford. After wearing glasses for 46 years and being considered legally blind without correction, single focal lenses were perfectly fine for me. I couldn't afford an additional $4,500 to Shell out for the upgraded lenses.

Hello Dr. Lee. I just had cataract surgery and my vision has not improved. I had RK in 1984 and also have membrane in back of the that restricts my vision. I’m so unhappy. My surgery was done by a great Dr from Bascom Palmer at Miami VA hospital.

Dear Dr. Wong, wish I have watch your video before my L eye cataract surgery 2 weeks ago, now I am waiting to have my R eye done. My L eye was replace with PanOptix toric UV IOL. The L eye vision at second day post op was 20/40 , the mid and near vision were great , but the halo and glare at night bother me very much in the first few days and is getting a little better on the second week. I would like to try mix lenses to reduce the halo effect my R eye. My doctor doesn’t like Vivity lens, not sure if he has try the newer ClearView 3 lens yet. Will an astigmatism correction lens for R eye work ? What choice of lens do I have ? Love to hear your opinion. Much appreciated.

That so describes my situation. So I have the YAG procedure but it did not really clear up my vision. Is there something else that is wrong or should I be patent and wait for things to clear up. I had the YAG procedure two months ago.

A couple of things to consider: use something disposable to lift the upper lid, like a q-tip. I don’t know why you would want to use your finger (which you will be using as you pass instruments back and forth) to intentionally touch the dirtiest thing on the surgical field (the lashes). Also, have the patient look down as you lift the upper lid, and you will get better draping of the lower lashes as well. It is nice that you referred to your scissors as “drape” scissors in this video, where in your last video, you called them “enucleation” scissors (not an edifying word in case the patient is listening)! Really, any old sterile scissors will do if used carefully. Also, it costs a little more money, but a screw-adjustable speculum is much more comfortable for the patient since it allows you to titrate the amount that you open the eye based on individual anatomy. If you’ve ever had that spring speculum inserted in your own eye, you’ll quickly realize that all that spring pressure is overkill (there I go using ugly words, myself!) and pretty uncomfortable. Finally, you don’t need those heavy quilted drapes. You could save some cost (a savings you could pass on to your patient) by just using a small plastic drape covering only what you would reasonably touch during surgery. You aren’t doing heart surgery! Research shows time and again, that infections come from primarily lash and skin flora, and secondarily instrument sterilization issues. Infections don’t come from the patients’ clothing. Great video!

Since the skin is sterile from the betadine, I use my finger. Thank you for your feedback!

While I have immense respect for you Dr. Wong, skin does not become “sterile” from a betadine scrub. It becomes clean - we are minimizing the risk of infection as best we can - not eliminating it. If you used the same logic, why even operate with gloves if skin is sterile after a betadine scrub? I saw this same technique demonstrated by attendings when I was in Oklahoma as well. Seems to be an unnecessary risk.

Thank you dr. Wong. Your explanation is so clear. My dr does not have time to explain all thse and you find yourself wanting what exactly to do esp after surgeon. All you have is a sheet of paper on how to use the eyedrops given. You are not even told when to see your surgeon after surgey for further examination. Thank again. Very helpful info.
