Pretty sure a lot of that has to do with him being blacklisted in Hollywood all those years ago after the answering machine tapes to his wife were made public. I presume this is why all of his subsequent movies are with actors most have never heard of before. It's too bad he is/was a person capable of such ugliness, bigotry, and hate because the man is a cinematic genius be it acting or directing. A significantly reduced lack of options is why we don't see a lot of him.

But it's Gal Gadot who will get greenlit. It's a similar conundrum to Margot Robbie looking like Jamie King, Samara Weaving, Emma Mackey & Jaime Pressly whilst bagging the best roles. I don't think it's any coincidence Sebastian Stan started to clean up in Hollywood once Richard Madden was locked into Game Of Thrones - it will be interesting to see who does more in 2023.

Finally a great vehicle to bring back one of the best, GO GET EM MEL!!! Still one of the most polite and intriguing actors I’ve ever spoke to numerous times while I was shooting on Stage 29 at Paramount studios, Stage 29….. his office is right next to my parking space and this was in the year 1999 in early 2000

This looks really good. These 2 will have great chemistry. It is great to see Charlie back in the game. He is a fantastic actor. Of course what do you need to say about Mel. He is a legend. I did see one comment below about an American playing a British actor (aka Mel). Many think he is from Australia but he was born in the US. He has spent a LOT of time in Australia and over time picked up a strong accent. In short, he can pull off the accent.

Mel arrived in Australia aged 12, he left Australia around 1987 aged about 31. I believe he remained in Hollywood after the success of Lethal Weapon in 1989.

@@judgeberry6071 The film hasn't come out. Idk what he's talking about. Might be a language barrier thing. The book just came out in Aug. 2018, and by Oct. 2018 the cast was set for the movie. That is crazy! I have never known for a movie to get the green light so quickly after the book hits shelves.

Fantastic movie well worth it. Plus somehow with pacing, it didnt feel way over the top neo noir. And making use of the actors time to do what they do best. Really impressive seeing that I cant imagine they had more than a few weeks of shooting.

Gosh. Mel Gibson has done some GREAT acting in the past, but his British accent is all over the place! I thought that Aussies could switch to Brit more easily than Americans (though Mel's been a yank since he was 16)
