It was with heavy hearts we learned that the Skoda Octavia Diesel RS is soon to be cease production. The kind folk at Skoda Ireland allowed us one last spin in what has become an institution on Irish roads.

I have just bought one of the last produced Škoda Octavia RS TDI 4x4 models. Made in March 2024. It's a shame that production is ending.

I've seen a Cosmic Green one ready for collection in my local Skoda dealer yesterday looks fab. These will hold their value well as they become a collectors car.

Will they be bringing back the plug in hybrid version now that the diesel is gone?

Diesel will be around for a while yet. We went electric and haven't look back as daily driving is short trips. However for long trips I find myself going for my 19 year old ultra reliable Isuzu d max. The cost of public charging is far too high, then won't connect or broken or a queue. Although applegreen are rolling out big amount of fast chargers, but at a big price.

Really want one of these especially as they're to be no more. I'm between it and the forthcoming sportline Octavia as we don't get the Sportline Octavia until next year in the north. Only thing putting me off is the higher insurance cost as I can get one of the newer shape ones like this one in the video for less than what's advertised if I go over to England for it.

Is it not a vRS rather than an RS ?

They're the same thing - the performance model is called the RS across Europe and only called the VRS is the U.K., where it stands for "Victory". (With RS likely standing for Rally Sport, which it does in other manufacturers' RS models 😀) While even there, it only has VRS on the outside badges, but it's called an RS in the owners manual! 😯😂🩲😀🤘
