After watching this I'm now glad I pre-ordered it and really looking forward to patch 2.0 tomorrow. This game deserves a good send off after its doggy start so it's great to get some good news and a great review.

Excellent review, LKM! It covered a number of areas I haven't seen mentioned in other reviews, especially the little things that bring Night City to life that have been enhanced with this update or expansion.

I only watched your closing remarks and I'm thrilled you find it to be such a success...can hardly wait to play it myself. However I haven't watched _any_ commentary about 2.0 or Phantom for weeks now...I don't want the fresh experience spoiled by endless commentary, analysis and 'but it's NOT a spoiler!' objections by people who then proceed to tell me about things I only want to learn WHILE ACTUALLY PLAYING THE GAME! So...I'll be watching your videos again in a few weeks after I've gotten through the 'new' game again myself. See ya!

Ohh, very glad to hear this, the concept arts from the new GOG Goodie pack looked so atmospheric and interesting already, so I'm really excited for more time around NC, and also the future of the next Cyberpunk. Just the whole Unity engine debacle makes the switch from their own RED to Unreal just that little bit more painful and worrying. I hope that other engine corps take that as an inspiration to only value their devs/users more, instead of less, looking at the backlash.

sounds very good so far, cant wait to build a character with the new skill tree. bummer that i will always have to jealously look at David's shiny Sandavistan and never have the option to look the same (mods will add it...), but at least i can walk across the city with a dedicated "walk" button (since 1.6/ 1.63?). fingers crossed for Tomorrow, good luck and godspeed for CDPR!

@LastKnownMeal I have a little PTSD tbh after Your review. We had the same case with release of Cyberpunk at 2020, when reviewers were showing only the footage provided by CDPRED. And we know what happened after that. I hope that this expansion (and patch 2.0) won't be the same disaster as the base game during release. Thanks for the review. Good work.

To be honest I share the same opinion as you. I don't like when I can't use my own footage, especially when that footage is amazing and having nothing to hide. It creates potential issues with people doubting because they can't see it and had the original Cyberpunk release experience. I will have a review with all of my footage later but for now I have to follow guidelines like all other outlets.

Favorite new feature as of right now not having played PL is the story and Dogtown. Second curious how changes have been made too different play styles. This review was comprahensive and really good. Thanks for this content. I think for my self i will wait for the release then start a new fresh character from start. More or less beeline towards PL content and immerse my self in that. Might take some side steps. But just see how it now feels from the very begining even if the PL content starts after Vodo-boys questline.

Sounds dope man. Only thing I got sad about is no physical changes to cyber arms or legs without mod support. All good though, Hopefully cyberpunk 2 they finally add that.

For people like me who were ok with gameplay, really need more interactivity with consumables, and City You mentioned they take note of your life path and choices in PL, hope there's more of that in the base game too

Would you recommend starting a new save file for the expansion? I've already completed the game once but wanted to get a little bit of time in before 2.0 drops to really feel the difference.

I suggest going in with your endgame char at start, test out max tac and other stuff. But yeah, I would recommend another playthrough if you have time. Doing it now with my new char actually

I think there is a few new voicelines but I am still going through it all from the start, will have info on that after I see it. Although, on the phone side, well I recommend calling characters from base game from time to time.

Thanks for the review, it was well edited and very informative! :) I'm glad that CDPR finally delivered a fun new Cyberpunk 2077 experience with less bugs than on launch. And I'm not sad we're not getting more expansions, since there'll be a whole new Unreal 5 Cyberpunk game coming out in the future. Red Engine is amazing, but if CDPR had a lot of problems developing games on it, it's better to move on. I'm really interested in the expansion, so I'm going to see it with my lategame character first. After that, I'm going to replay the whole game with a 3rd character as a nomad. And after the few minor patches that's going to come out to fix even more stuff, I'm going to mod the game. Not going to reinstall them every time there's a new fix. :D

On Arm/Hands.... ehhh id have liked it, but I think the upgrades to existing cyber ware covers me. I think we just are NOT going to see Wolvers in the game, now that a certain character named after the Gulo gulo mammal is owned by the Mouse... yeah not happening. Maybe new stuff in a new game, but I think that the upgrades we got were fine. My big choice is going to be "Do I double katana/MBs or do I change the arms out for a projectile launcher?" Your review is fairly positive and I am excited for this game. I am sad that my play through that I did this summer was essentially in vain, Im def. planning on doing a new run of the game because 2.0 just looks THAT good. I will probably rush to Dogtown, but there's still a big chunk of game between me and there. I am actually hoping that it works out that I hit a big break from work (A whole week off.) RIGHT as I start Dogtown. But it IS bittersweet, like you I am sad that this is the end of 2077 and the end of the Red Engine. I GET why CDPR made that choice, and though I wish that this DLC could change things... I think its an unrealistic hope. They have had too many problems with Red and now that they are moving on to Unreal... it just doesn't make much sense to continue developing in it.

Yeah, it sucks there isnt a new one but all of the changes to existing cyberware was enough for me. And yeah, every engine feels different so its a big step for them as well. Sad that RedEngine is ending as well, lots of years playing in it from W2 and onwards.

Im really looking forward to the update, though i have a questtion you maybe able to answer it :) ? 1) i stopped playing the first version until i could mod it because it was WAY to easy on the hardest difficulty. Has it increased significantly? 2) the levelling (especially street cred) was so fast, i reduced it with a mod by 60 and 40%. Has this changed in your experience in the 2.0 version / Expansion? thanks in advance!

It's harder definitely at start when you are weak. Later on gets much easier but max tac for example got me even fully decked out. Street cred and xp leveling like it always was, relatively fast but I didn't have problem with it

Takes a bit definitely, think 15- 20 for me, I don't recommend zooming through it though.

Is there a recommended lvl for Dog town missions or does it adjust to your lvl. For example I usually get done with Voodoo Boys around 28-30, so if I went to Dog town at that point would It be significantly harder than at 50?

That's enough if you ask me. They scale well with your existing progression. But you can always stary a new game just with expansion anyway.

Actually, it doesn't say point of no return in PL, but you will naturally assume what is coming through the story. I do recommend doing a manual save from time to time

What about locked door checks? Are they still handled by your attributes on body and tech?

You have some doors which are for body, some you open with technical skill and some with netrunning. There sometimes more entries depending on your build.

Have you noticed improvements to traffic? Like the stop lights actually working properly? NPCs actually waiting during a red light?

I did notice it turns red and they wait but every time I approach near it, it goes green. Other npcs dont wait for long though.

Can you elaborate if th 2.0 update requires more hardware power? CDPR says you'll need to upgrade while some say the frames got higher?

I talked about it in Performance part of the video. 2.0 itself nah, I don't think so, I had same fps before and after the patch. Phantom Liberty has some pockets on the map where framerate drops but nothing terrible

Will I need to unlock the trunk of perks to get the top most level perk. Like if I got 20 in body, will I need to get the perks below the level 20 perks. In the old version I could pump points I to perks and get top level perks. Is it going to be the same.

Just the required perks, there isn't a threshold of perks you have to cross in other parts in order for it to unlock. Lines you can see pretty much show it

Something between HoS and B&W, but leaning more on B&W side with size and content. With writing it's on the same great level of quality.

Same.. such a massive and beautiful game, soo soo many years out into it.. and such a bad/rocky/ straight up shit start... I feel it would be such a waste to not do a couple DLCs, add ons and updates! I'd gladly pay. And I was one of the frustrated ones that got the game on day one launch! . I'm glad they are upgrading engine.. but hope they don't already drop the game for the next.. Hope they change their minds 🙏🤞🤞

So if I understand you correctly, you noticed no performance change pre 2.0 and post 2.0 outside of just the new area?

Same performance pretty much for Night City and the rest of 2.0 features, while Dogtown has some pockets which lowers framerate, but not too much.

looks good but, didnt they say that the level cap will be 75 or 70 ?!

I think that was misinterpreted a bit but yeah 60 is cap. It was enough for this expansion, 70 would be a bit too much since with 60 you cover your entire build with everything you want.

2.0 dropping tomorrow, with updated perks, police system, vehicle combat and other smaller changes we will see once they release full patch notes.

i new they would do that with cyberware thought they would be lazy and count 100+ cyberware and clothing as just upgrades

I highly doubt there’s gonna be a cure, though, because it would defeat the purpose of the story mode because the story mode is about finding a cure all the way through

I suspect the ending will have a cure*. With a huge caveat, you still need to access mikoshi for it's tech and bring the support of Militech/NUSA for the mission, which would make it more akin to the devil ending.

Hey. Thanks for the review. I'm starting my 4th fresh playthrough tomorrow and I wonder which moment in the bese game is the best to start the expansion? Is it worth waiting until the point of no return or should I start the expansion as soon as it becomes available, after the Voodoo Boys questline? I want to make sure that I won't miss anything by starting later in the base game. Does it even matter at what point you start the expansion besides the relic tree?

I'm starting at the very beginning. The devs said to start fresh, i feel like thers little surprise changes throughout the missions and now that the skill tree has changed our playthrough will be more fun and different

Its okay even if you start it mid gameplay or at the end. It works well with other gigs and missions outside of it so it doesnt create problems.

Its actually nice to see a reviewer have a "normal person" specced pc. The 4090 is nice but most people cant really enjoy this luxury at that price and in this economy xD

I don’t care about new arm cyberware. Just super revamped the system all cyberware seems like it matters now cause new abilities they give. By way what new arm cyberware could they even do anyway cause I can’t think of one.

They do in some cases, like boosting cars, in open world it's more situational. If you run into them
