Agreed. That’s would be really great. I just placed an order for a rogue rack. But it took me a month debating if I should go with Rep, mainly because of the lat attachment (and a little bit on rogue not offering shorter than 24” crossmember for the rear section). The main reason I still went with rogue is (1) I really like the brand and (2) Rep is out of stock for most of the size and color config.

Great job on your channel and content. I am just about ready to pull the trigger and order up an RM-6 from Rogue. I do not have the space to accommodate a dedicated lat machine, so rack mounted is my only option. I spoke to Rogue last week and they said that they are about a month away from releasing the stack loaded slinger shown on their site. My idea was do something similar to what you did with the 24” extension bottom cross member with a few extra steps. Add a 43” bottom member at the bottom/rear of the rack and install the weight stack on top of that, so it ends up parallel to the rear of the rack. Then you would need to add the rear/single pulley that they are showing on the RM-6 on top of the 24” top member you added, except mount it 180 degrees so that the pulley hangs backward over the top of the stack. Essentially you would end up with the two pulley assemblies mounted back to back on the top 24” member. I hope Rogue flushes out the design and offers something like this as a standard option. The only other thing they need to do is offer a leg pad/attachment to hold you down. This would be a perfect accessory for them to offer for use with the existing socket at the head of the AB-3 bench.

Hi Brandon. Love the content and this video is perfect for my own gym timing. I just put through an order for a RM-690 with a drop in rhino. My plan was to use a Monster shackle to a top gusset and connect a pulley to the shackle and connect a cable to the rhino. My two questions are.. 1. Is my idea with the pulley as opposed to the shackle instead of the slinger fine? 2. I got an extra top cross member so the front and middle will be options for the pulley. Which would you recommend I use? I plan to use a multi grip pull-up bar in the back for rhino loaded chin ups 😁. Thanks!

Yes will def work. For #2, if it's not too late, I'd switch the shackle for the monster post attachment I have in the video. That way you can easily move it from post to post as desired without wrenches.

Someone on Facebook used chains to stop the swing on plates when they did a lat pulldown setup similar to what you did with the slinger. Apparently, if the chain is touching the ground, it stops the swing. Of course, that then becomes accomodating resistance, which not everyone wants.

The drop in Rhino is best used with the 30" depth rack. The front posts has extra clearance to allow squats outside the rack without bumping your shins into the platform. The 24" beam can be centered if you rotate the 43" upper crossmembers 90 degrees and place them inside your 30" crossmembers.
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 3 жыл бұрын
I think it depends. If you squat facing out like I do, the 24" would still work fine, the bigger issue is getting a bench in deep enough for certain movements!
@yiani31
@yiani31 3 жыл бұрын
I'm planning on an RM-6 with 30 inch rear crossmembers instead of the default 24 (and the Rhino), do you think this sounds like a good idea? Obviously it'd be a pretty deep rack, but I'm thinking you'd be able to still do squats/bench/incline(?) inside the rack, and use the Rhino for pulldowns and low rows (besides belt squats obviously).
@Brian-kl9tc
@Brian-kl9tc 3 жыл бұрын
I considered this at one point but doing it sideways on the top cross member and using the bench prop as another attachment point. Ended up taking your advice that it's to much money to have to adapt the thing to be of any use. For now I'll stick to knock offs using home depot pulley and cable.

If you use a top crossmember instead of a bottom crossmember, you can center the body of the crossmember along the lateral direction. Although that is probably more relevant if you're using a Rhino with the Slinger, so you can align the Slinger above the Rhino platform where the Rhino cable emerges.

I also have the RM6, which I got during the Covid shutdown. I'm a little limited in room, so I can't have a separate pulldown machine. @@BasementBrandon Thanks. I had forgotten about Surplus Strength. I’ll take another look at them. Definitely not interested in the band option. No crossmember or slinger needed. Just attach a pulley to each crossmember with I bolts/nuts/washers/D rings and a length of cable and you're all set. Cost maybe $30. Adjustability is provided by a length of chain at one end about 18" long. This way you can do exercises seated or standing.

im thinking of drilling out the holes on the cross bars so i can center the slinger in the middle of the rack. it shouldnt slide left to right with oblong holes. I have the rhino on order along with slinger and other necessary components to make it work. In still have to engineer a way to keep the monster bench prop into the rhino. I already have a full functional trainer but i need a 1 to 1 ratio for lat pulldowns and low rows and not enough space to add a dedicated lat machine for it. I think this gives me the most versatility in the small amount of space. wish me luck. expensive as hell though to do this but i also get a rhino, a lat pull down and a low pull for the price of a good lat machine. so i could argue its a good price.

Dude it is super easy to adjust that cable length. The pieces on either end are just held on by removable screws. Take the end off, cut the cable, screw it back on. Wouldn't take 5 minutes. For the weight plates and loading pin you can just do what you were doing at 2:55 in the video. Undo those screws, slide the stopper further down the cable and the back end would get longer to where you likely wouldn't even need the chain to reach the loading pin.

@@BasementBrandon I just emailed Rogue to see if I can order an RM-6 with 30" rear crossmembers instead of 24, so that there'd be 6 inches between the Rhino platform and the center post. Not sure if those few extra inches would even be enouch for the bench prop (?), but hopefully it'd at least be enough room to not interfere with squat/bench/incline setup...
