The Emperor and his 2 wives were the best in this drama! I loved their interactions so much. I can watch clips of them all the time. Concubine Yue was especially saucy giving her brand of justice when injustice was heaped on Niao Niao. And General Ling....always coming to the defense of Niao Niao...I loved the way he loves her so much!

The Empress was truly kind and accepted the Emperor's love for the Consort, to a fault. She was truly heartbroken in her deathbed that she didn't get to have a love like Zisheng and Niao Niao nor that of the Emperor and Consort Yue. She had even wished that if she had a choice, she wouldn't want to meet the Emperor if possible. That scene was truly heartwrenching to watch. But then again, that's the rule then. To preserve royal bloodlines without committing incest, or to have chances of having a legit heir without resorting to divorce. Furthermore, Consort Yue's character has integrity. Note that her own brother plotted treason against his brother-in-law, the Emperor, and yet she was instrumental in arresting her own flesh and blood. This drama is 50+ episodes long and almost an hour each, and yet, I kept on re-watching it. Beautiful.

No matter how many times I've watch this drama, I'm always filled with laughter especially when the husband can't wait for the wife to die. This is just hilarious.😆😆🤣🤣

This scene always give me goose bumps even if I watched it several times. I love this scene all the love and respect from the emperor, empress and concubine and not to be left behind is the silent support of Zisheng to Niao Niao. A very excellent and highly recommended drama to watch over and over !

Help has arrived. This is the best part. I love this drama. 🥰 I have a good laugh when the husband of Consort Ruyang said, "Kill yourself? That's great. That couldn't be any better." 😂😂😂

This is my first C-drama, and this is fantastic. The right balance of drama, comedy and mushiness. Each individual character has depth and is not confined to a stereotype. From comics and mangas, concubines are always portrayed as jealous and cunning, empresses and emperor as cruel and dismissive. But not here! Those three here are so great, they make such a good tag-team! Love this drama, can't stop watching!

When Shaoshang was engaged to Ling Buyi, Shaoshang wore new deep pink gown and Ling Buyi was in red red color just like a formal wedding gown. How much he wished to get married to her! At the night when Ling Buyi killed Ling Yi, he wore black which represents death, while Shaoshang wore red wedding gown which represents full love. All these color codes represent their heart and feelings. I love this little details.

I wish this scene was extended to have all attendees continue with the betrothal banquet and toast to Zisheng and Shaoshang. Love Qiqi's hilarious reaction to the ousted women and Prince Ruyang stole the limelight from his wife. Hahaha. I cannot get tired watching this drama over and over again. All actors delivered powerful performances to their characters. Even if Zhao Lusi's Hidden Love is making the rounds right now, I still prefer her remarkable chemistry with Leo Wu. Hoping they make another project in the future.

The fun part. They all knew, except marchioness Chengyang and Consort Ruyang of course, that when they gave Shaoshang the chance to speak. Those two really didn't stand a chance. Shaoshang's mind and mouth work perfectly well together as a result an honest but razor sharp tonque . The uncle warned them about Shaoshang. I really like the uncle. The emperor always let Concubine Yue do the hard work. He only has to stand there and finish it of.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS DRAMA -- ***LOVE LIKE THE GALAXY***!!!! I've already watched it twice and I know in the near future I'll watch it again. The only problem I had when I first watched it and still have a problem with it now... is the script of her mother and the emotional abuse she puts her through. Yet..... that's a trigger that I'll always skip over. Other than that.. it's an amazing drama!!!!

This series and Wonderland of Love are definitely my two favourite series! So many intrigues, hilarious moments and wonderful sweet moments! We need more series like these! Both Asian series AND Western series!

One would think Consort Ruyang would know better by now, after all these years, not to engage in a war of words with Consort Yue because she simply cannot win. Ruyang is hot-headed, indignant, gossipy, a loud, arrogant bully and loses control when she's in verbal combat and always says something to make herself look like a moron that she can't then back up with facts while Consort Yue is always dignified, soft spoken, brutally honest, and maintains integrity with her self control and confidence. After all these years of these two women having to converse, one would think anyone with a tiny bit of gray matter in the skull would not rile up Consort Yue, but Ruyang is so self absorbed she believes she will always win and will never be held accountable for her words or actions. That even Consort Yue knew in verbal combat that Shaoshang could best Consort Ruyang was a thing of beauty; the way she allowed Shaoshang to defend herself against Ruyang in front of everyonesays a lot about her disdain for Ruyang's lack of character and horrid personality and with a very discreet nod of her head and her eyes, gave permission to Shaoshang to 'let her have it' and "I've got your back". She gave the power in the room to Shaoshang in that moment and our girl did not disappoint: she knew exactly what Consort Yue had done and that's the reason she thanked Consort Yue for allowing her to speak on her own behalf. What a way to tell Shaoshang she is definitely a member of the royal family whether or not Consort Ruyang likes it. Following Consort Yue's lead, Niao Niao maintained her composure, her 'inside voice', spoke respectfully, used honorifics in her speech, spoke only truth and refused to be baited by lies and drama that Consort Ruyang relies on to always get her own way. Even pounding on her husband in front of the most important people in the empire to get someone else on her side so she would win in her attempt to discredit Shaoshang and convince them all that her mouthy, pouty, spoiled rotten granddaughter, who was so ruined by the grandmother that the grandfather couldn't find her a husband and had to send her off to the temple as a nun. Grandmother Ruyang had damaged their granddaughter so badly raising her that it wasn't that the grandfather "couldn't" find her a husband, it was that no sane man, young or old, could stomach her or her grandmother so no one would agree to marry her. Even knowing the outcome of the reason the granddaughter is now residing at the temple and not with a husband, Consort Ruyang is still spouting her nonsense that the granddaughter is a better woman, person, future wife than Shaoshang, only because Ruyang herself wants the prestige and power that would come from her granddaughter marrying the god of war. She's still preaching to the choid that her granddaughter should marry the general instead of Shaoshang even though he's announced to the entire world he would marry no one else but Shaoshang for life. Her dramatics weren't just for the people in the room, but Ruyang was well aware that everyone outside that room could hear every word being spoken by her, her insults to Shaoshang, her belittling her, her comparing her to less rebellious, more demure and obedient young women of the court, blaming Shaoshang for the way she turned out due to every adult in her life failing her. How was a child supposed to learn and be molded into a court-worthy young woman when she was left to fend for herself including feeding herself, nursing herself when sick, etc. Consort Yue, Shaoshang, the emperor and Ruyang's henpecked husband all kept their voices normal so only Ruyang's voice could be heard outside so she was certain every person outside would be on her side as she left that room. She just didn't anticipate the manner in which she'd leave that room which stunned everyone outside listening and watching. And all those observers learned, in that moment, that you should not mess with, try to manipulate, insult, bully or embarrass the royal 'family' or there will be consequences. I never wanted to hug an emperor so much in my life.
