Thanks for talking about what an incredible writer Mikey is. It doesn't get mentioned often enough. He's been behind a lot of SNL's best sketches of the last 10 years. David S. Pumpkins, Farewell, Mr Bunting, Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base, Close Encounters, Mafia Meeting (Space Pants), Live Report, the Dunkin Donuts commercials, The War In Words, The Grouch, and Waffle House, Mario Kart, A Christmas Carol, Jake From State Farm and Traffic Altercation from just last season. This is only a small portion, the list goes on. He's already an SNL legend.

And totally hit home with me, because in grade school, we had just basically finished learning all about our weights & measures, and the school suddenly announce that we were switching over to the metric system. I think Mikey is incredibly underrated as a longtime SNL cast member and writer. As an American, living in France, married to an Australia, the daily struggle with "weights and measures" (and temps!) is real. I have watched "Washington's Dream" like 20 times and literally LOL the entire time. Nate was THE perfect person to play Washington. Absolutely the best sketch in a long time.

Yeah, as an American living in Japan I know what you mean, although I'm pretty used to the metric system by now. But a couple of months ago one of my students showed me a video she saw on KZfaq, and the person said "It's 44 degrees today here in New York". My student just looked incredulously at me and asked if it really got that hot in New York in March. I was just like, "We need to talk about Fahrenheit..."

@@ElAssoWipe-o So, you live in your own bubble and think that is how everyone lives, and thinks. You are just wrong, SNL has been steady source of comedy, a lot of skits bomb which is typical for any sketch show, not to mention it being live and made in 5 days. Nate was the perfect host for that sketch. The best one this year.

I used to go watch him live at The Groundlings in the 2000's. Even among that strong group (which included Melissa McCarthy) he stood out as a unique talent and hilarious comedic actor. It was pretty clear that he had the potential to go really far in the industry. So happy for him.

Mikey Day has become one of my SNL favorites, along with Marcello Hernandez and Bowen Yang. I like all the cast, but those three are hysterical. The George Washington and the Waffle House sketches ... so freaking funny.

Excellent interview. The Beavis and Butthead skit was one of the best of this SNL cast.
