Again a great video. I discovered something interesting in regards to using LaTeX equations - eg align or equation. That is that in visual mode you can open up a raw code black - then chose .tex and write your stuff as if you were in LaTeX (P. S. this is with html output - using katex). I agree Quarto is a bit wonky when comes to LaTeX but Quarto simply looks like LaTeX to me just with coding abilities (Donald Knuth's ultimate dream).

I for one think that LaTeX is great and I am sold on it. This is another great video. But... I would space out the variables in the code that starts with \sum - thus: \sum_{j=1}^p \beta_j x_{ij}. LaTeX will simply ignore the space but the code is a lot more readable with spaces. I see the influence of LaTeX throughout both RMarkdown and Quarto. The quarto yml is analogous to the "preamble" in LaTeX. P. S. the "katex" package helps render LaTeX equations in html.

Great! Your video help me discover a mistake I had been making using using LaTeX in Quarto. When using align or or anything with the latex syntax \begin...\end.. I was putting the whole thing in quarto display mode (thus with a pair of two $$ and it (e.g. align) simply did not work. I am not sure if you have looked at the end feature in Quarto that just came out - namely the manuscript option. I have been playing with it and would love to see you do a video on it. I did notice when I generated the pdf using the agu-pdf option that it automatically generated the agu latex class file. That raises the question whether one can insert a custom class file - for instance for a thesis at a university? Thanks.
