I presume the fleets of your AI's were reaching truely monstrous levels near the end. Given the scale of the fleets of the Devouring swarm, given their buffs to fleet size and power, their total empire scale, and adding the sheer number of surviving empires. I suspect the game was tanking because of all the stuff going on. Maybe a smaller galaxy, a few less AI, and an emphasis on getting megatech in this mod out to boost your small empire size. Mine entire SYSTEMS for their minerals, convert them to ring-worlds after you strip them of attack worlds or moons, upgrade your systems again and again. (Don't consume all the suns: you are not the Stellar Devourers fanatical believers..... or are you?) Start your game going Eco, transition into Science, focus on science while you pool massive economy buffs. If someone declares war, hide behind bastions: no point pushing out unless living metal/ringworlds nearby or you need more stuff because you finished what upgrades you have. GO MASSIVE. Endgame crisis isn't going to be a threat: That isn't the point: you are the FINAL bastion. You build not to defeat the end game, you build to be the final unbetable empire. Don't forget your Fleet Hub :D (Stripmine home-worlds: that way your conquered populations can feel at home inside their troop ships: constructed from the very matter their forebears came from)

neutron stars may not be that common but thats not a problem with gigastructral engineering as we can just crush any old star and make our own.

No neutron star? no problem! You can turn stars into neutron stars with fusion suppressors. the resulting neutron star isn't enough to support the Nidaviller Hyperforge, but works fine with the Neutronium Gigaforge (basically a giant drill mining a neutron star)

Mod author here. There is, in fact, a way to acquire a pink (and very shiny) attack moon! It however requires your empire's primary flag color to be pink, and needs another specific megastructure to be built beforehand.

I tried out the mod recently, and it quickly got to the point where I just threw the planet at all my problems. "Fallen Empire awakened? Have the planet take care of it." "Criminal syndicate established branch offices on all my worlds? Send the planet after them."

Haha true, true! Thankfully though colonies are nowhere near as bad as they used to be for tech modifiers and the science you get from them massively outweighs the admin cap-empire sprawl modifier, especially since it's the number of districts that effects the sprawl mostly and as the colonies grow and increase sprawl their science increases too - I didn't really hit any high sprawl numbers throughout the video since I didn't expand much system wise and quickly had my admin cap higher than my sprawl when the tech was available. Considering the small sprawl and overall size of the Empire in the end I'm happy enough with how tall this playthrough was! :D Also this is a very long unnecessary reply..
