1. What if the walls are already in and place the pan afterwards. The boards would not be sitting on top of the pan. Is this ok? 2. In this video a membrane was installed over the plywood before the pan. Why?

I have used lots of Laticrete products and like them, but the installation methods shown in this video are insufficient for me. Using just Latasil to seal the floor/wall junction, and particularly the curb/wall junction, is risky IMHO, because sealants, like caulk, can shrink and delaminate over time. Most competitors recommend installing banding at the floor/wall junction, and pre-formed outside corners at the curb/wall junction, instead of relying just on a bead of sealant.

Laticrete makes a band that's recommended for use with this system.

In other countries thin-set applications in these bans and joints are considered not up to code, I use cementicouse in the joints and always just banding over ever connections. I have only ever used the full pre sloped pans but I am considering this product in my home shower, have you ever tried it and if so what do you think about these kits?
