Bregando, tripeando y que jartera! These are all things Puerto Ricans say... but would you have any idea what they mean?! We asked a few non-Puerto Rican Latinos, watch to see if they passed or fail!

I would say "Brutal" as in super cool instead of "Nítido". Nítido is very 80's. Tripear es relajar not necessarily tripping on drugs. "Estoy en un viaje" means you are tripping on drugs.

Bregando means to deal with something or to be busy. "Estoy bregando con la construcción". "I'm dealing with the construction". "Estoy aquí en la brega mano". "I'm busy man". Tripeando means to play or messing around. "Loco estoy tripeando contigo, no lo cojas a mal". "Man I'm just messing with you, don't take it as a bad thing". Jartera is when you're stuffed with food/full. "Acho mano me di una clase jartera que no puedo con mi vida". "Man I'm so full I can't with my life" Pichea means never mind or to ignore someone. "Si no entendiste pichea porque no me voy a repetir". "If you didn't understand then never mind cause I won't repeat myself". "Mera, si sigue molestando picheale entonces". "Look if they keep bothering, then ignore them". Tipo/Tipa is when you're talking about someone you don't know (mostly used when an unknown person does something random). "El tipo salió corriendo como los locos". "The guy started running like a crazy". "La tipa empezó a gritar bien al garete".

OK first of all all my Puerto Rican people would feel me on this one. How can u have a Puerto Rican slang video and not have the word cafre in it!?!? Cmon!!!! Nobody says that word but us!!! It means someone is real tacky or has no class. I'm very disappointed in this video. Also I don't really hear PR say nitido a lot. Wee usually say ESO esta prendio!!! I fucking knew this video would have a ton of problems Bregar- is not to make out, its to work things out/dealing with a situation, nothing to do with kissing or relationships. Holy shit FLAMA, what a fuck up. Tripear- literally is tripping (the english slang of tripping, not the real meaning of falling). Not necessarily having fun. Just like in english, when some one is tripping it could mean they are messing with you or they are being flaky in a situation. Nitido- is just Neat. In both sense of something/area being neat, or something being comming out well
@hamariachi

+Bulma Punk Rocker Yes, but it is a very specific and regional slang only found in Uruguay and Argentina, which developed between the turn of the century, and the thirties, and featured in a lot of popular Tangos of the of the era. A lot of the phraseology of the slang would be very confusing, and even downright nonsensical to most hispanics from outside of the area.

Lunfardo is a Porteno thing(So, being from BsAs, slang is a big part of my vocabulary). I have family from Cordoba and they have their own slang and their accent always sounds funny to me. P.S. FLAMA needs to show more love to Argentina and Uruguay. Majority of their videos are about Mexicans, Dominicanos, PR. You do know Argentina is 3rd largest Spanish speaking country in all of Latin of America but yet no love besides a bone here and there.. Way more Argentinos in the world than Dominicans, Puerto Ricans. Step your game up FLAMA.

there are times when it depends on what part of the island you are from, some people have a different name for one same thing. ex. pastelillos in Aguadilla, and in another part of the island they call it empanadillas and it is the same food.

In the 10 years Iv'e been to PR , the young people make up new words and phases all the time ...One new one was like 'Seco y pelau' Is suppose to mean Thirsty & broke or Dry and broke , shortened to 'Seci Pelau' when asked " Como Estas?" instead of replying "Bien Gracias" ..So much for high school Spanish :-(
