6:44 we were taught that in the structure for CaF2, the fluoride ions will fill all (ie. 100%) the tetrahedral voids/ holes. i cross checked my notes with my textbook and it says the same thing..... so why did you say half?

was thinking the same thing. I was taught half the tetrahedral holes were filled in the zinc sulphite structure.

Look at the picture. The single tetrahedron has one interior tetrahedral hole. On each face it has another hole which is shared with one other. So that's six more that count as half each, or three. Four holes. But it only has two fluorides to put in them.
