All about the 1010 launch rod and rail buttons used by amateur rocketeers and rocketry clubs. A strong launch rod that will provide a good straight liftoff.

Do you have a video of the build of a 4" rocket? I've been testing your motors and have had great success. Love your channel! Great videos! Thanks!

I am SUPER happy you've had success with our motors!!! You know, it's funny... I've built about 10 of those 4" Eliminator rockets and never once did we film the entire process. I think the closest video that would show our typical build process is the 3" Assassin rocket build we used for our 1000 subscriber special. I'm constantly making changes to some little parts here and there but it's basically the same. Here's a link... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pMCBm9edzJ7HfGQ.html

Nice video alright. Looking back, I have a few rockets built and flown that do not have rail buttons. I have purchased both types and going to try to figure how I can install them on my existing rockets. Any suggestions?

That's a difficult question to answer without knowing the rocket design, diameter, length, etc. If you absolutely cannot reach inside to attach a nut, I have two suggestions. 1. You could cut out a small piece of the rocket body across from the rail button location so you can get a nut in place and then glue the body tube piece back in place. I bit destructive but some paint touch-ups would likely hide it well. 2. I have not tried this but I have thought that if you can't get in a location to install a nut but you can see the location, you could install the rail button and just use a long stick to put a blob of epoxy on the small portion of threads inside the rocket. I would probably do this twice... Let epoxy harden then put another blob over the first one.

@@rotaryrocketry Good ideas. I like the 4 inch tube rockets with G & H motors. I have one I built with rails when they just started being a thing. Been away from launch's for 20 years but am getting back into it. I went to a launch at Pence, Ind the other day (NSL) and all the pads had rails. Except for a few 1/8 rods. I needed a 1/4 rod for my 4 inch Dia. NCR Archer rocket. I had to look around and found a PVC pipe with rods in it. They were extremely rusty as if they had not been used for years. The challenge to get buttons on most of my rockets is going to be entertaining. Thanks for your thoughts.

The rear rail button will be the most challenging. You may be able to drill a hole in the bottom centering ring and sneak a nut through the hole. You could also slip a wood dowel through the hole and use epoxy to secure it. Then attach the rail button with a small screw. Make sure to pre-drill the hole so the dowel does not split. Cover the hole with a small piece of brass or a penny, then epoxy or use super glue to secure it.

Appreciate your time. That is probably how I will do it. I am entertaining a thought of drilling the hole in the tube,, go maybe 5 degrees radially around the tube, slitting the tube, prying the tube enough to get the nut in there. Then with a small hook made from a paper clip, lift the surgery slot back flush and epoxy it. I will try both ways and get back to you.@@TheRocketeer
