It's great to sense your excitement about the new workshop Laura - especially the access via ground-level roller door. Even your goldsmith friends have their own space too so you can still have the synergy of different ideas about creativity. I have a 2-storey place and the best thing I did was to make a simple block-and-tackle hand operated winch for heavy or big bulky objects up/down the stairs. You have room if you remove the planks away from the left side (going up) to make a useful crane or "Chinese Windlass", which won't let heavy stuff fall down unexpectedly.

Love your new shop. You'll love all the separate rooms... plenty of wall space to hang storage cabinets and tools on. If you install a French cleat around the wall you can basically create a storage system that is very flexible. GREAT video by the way

It's great to see someone so excited by Making and Doing. You portray your excitement to your audience quite effectively.You can keep your glues warm in an unheated space by placing glue bottles in a beach type beer cooler along with a low watt light bulb. You will have to experiment with the size of the cooler or in this case, warmer, and the wattage of the bulb. Cheers

That's a great new plate to be creative! To me it seems to have a cosy part and an open, kind of industrial space. That's a great mix.

I like watching your videos!! I am disabled now day's, so any project's I do have to be of the small size, and do able setting down. But even then i get a lot from watching what you do. Wood project's are mostly what i do, plus a small amount of old sewing machine repair. My little shop is 14 feet by 12 feet, with about a third of it set up for me to use!! Keep up the neat stuff!!!

I've been watching your videos for months and thus is the first time I've come across the two back-to-back old vs new shop tour videos. For a while I've been thinking you just had a huge space with all those different shop configurations in one place. Like Jimmy DiResta had his NYC shop and his farm shop, but I could tell pretty easily which was which, but I was trying to imagine the layout of your space. Now it makes sense.

I can see your first project: Building a step for your entrance door :P And, for your second project? A wheeled cart, on an angle, possibly pulled up by a rope-and-pulley system, that can ride on the ramp to the left of your stairs, for moving heavy items up to the second floor.
