Love the spot where Larry breaks out with his triumphant Tarzan call after removing the gum from Moe's nose. I read somewhere that Larry was very laid back and usually just read his lines and followed the director's instructions. But every once in a while he would spontaneously improvise something like this. Hilarious.

Suzanne Kaaren was a show stopper whenever she took off her clothes and danced in bathing suit attire. Thjs movie was no exception. I saw my grandpa shed a tear when he learned she had died in 2004. He said he "loved her from afar" and that if hadn't fallen in love with Joan Leslie at the same time, he would have sent her more love letters than he had already. Joan Leslie (from Gary Cooper's Sgt. York fame) was my favorite. Those first scenes of her in Sgt. York are priceless.

@@USCG.Brennan Oh, I found plenty of things funny - The intellect of a 6-12 year old is limited by his limited life's experience, but such as it was, I was always more amused by things that appealed to me intellectually - Victor Borge, the Goon Show, and lots of TV shows and comedians, but I didn't find much to laugh at in people doing stupid things. From a very young age, I didn't like slapstick, and you couldn't get much more slapstick than the 3 stooges. I wasn't keen on circus clowns either. I just played another few minutes of it, but honestly, I can't stand it.

I read that a lot of the guest cast members who danced or modeled or sang in the Stooges episodes were being promoted by the Stooges themselves. The guys took a liking to their talents and tried to help push their careers along by getting them noticed.

The swallowed harmonica melody on 10:00 is known in the Neatherlands as a song for children during Saint Nicolas celebrations ("There is knockinging on the door"). The song orriginaly introduces a figure called Black Piet as a servant of the saint. In recent years there has been much debate about this figure because many see it now as discrimination. Therefor the role of the figure is changing and also most of the lyrics of the several songs are adjusted.

Or, from USA: Did you ever see a lassie, A lassie, a lassie? Did you ever see a lassie, Go this way and that? Late 1800's--- similar to the Austrian tune Au du lieber Augustine circa 1800. (But not exact)

These "3 Stooges" episodes were invented as "short subjects", shown in theaters before the feature. My mom used to see these 15 minute wonders when she worked at the Art Theater in Hobart IN in the late forties. When these shorts came to WGN around 1959, mom tuned it in for us (I was six years of age) and I've been a fan ever since. This one was made in 1936. Can you believe that? Somebody colorized it; I don't ever recall seeing a single episode in color. ...
