I think the reason for gaining insight and knowledge is more to do with giving thanks. Giving thanks and having a connection to God as a child does help one see the truth

you see it really depends...you are right ofc...paul sees it this way maybe because thats what hes familiar with...but the point is Allah starts opening up paths for people seeking Him out ...and not to those that seek confirmation bias for their already held belief system... simply put: He helps those that actually want help(even if they are in denial in the beginning) and not the "know it all" ones(because their hearts have been sealed to the truth)
