I love how they made Qual feel horribly outclassed yet utterly terrifying at the same time. Man took one look at Fern's defensive spell and instantly copied it, fully grasped its intracacies and weaknesses, and figured out an effective counter in the span of a few seconds. Had he been given any length of time unsealed, he could quickly have gone back to being an undefeatable menace.

The most interesting thing about Frieren is that she is one of the only beings that lives a long lifespan that has realized something special. She realized that instead of spending a ton of time being complacent with her strength like other long living beings, she instead needs to constantly grow. She learned this from humans, who have a much shorter lifespan meaning they need to be much more efficient with their time. It may not seem like this because of her lazy and tired nature, but in relevance to how long she lives, shes learning at an incredibly rapid rate.
