My children are grown and out of school. i have 2 children so getting ready for back to school was much simpler! I was one of 8 children so seeing all the supplies laid out for each child brought back so many memories! Going school shopping was one of my most favorite times!!!

You have a very impressive organization system for your family! As a teacher, I prefer Ticonderoga pencils. The quality makes them last so much longer and sharpen so much better. The less expensive pencils constantly break and do not want to sharpen. The erasers also smudge. I am a teacher in a Title 1 school so we are not allowed to create expensive class supply lists. As a result, I have spent over $1,000 getting ready for school this year because I want to have all of the nice things in my classroom. I wish all parents did what you do, or at least made an attempt. Many students bring no supplies at all because their families cannot afford them. I never call them out. They find everything they need in their cubbies and baskets. In fact, it helps build a relationship with them because they know that I care about them!

So happy we live in a country where I don’t need to buy supplies for the kids (only a backpack and stuff), it is all bought by the school and ready when they get in the first day. Saves me a lot of time (and money). Every country is different of course. It all looks so organized!

You are the epitome of organized - I love it!!! I always bought ahead as well when my kiddo was in school - she actually just graduated from college and we decided we still needed to do some “school” shopping for pens and fresh markers - nothing like a package of brand new markers!! When I was little my mom used to pack a hot dog once in awhile as a treat in my thermos - with a little hot water to keep it extra hot…bun was packed on side as well as ketchup and mustard packets. It was rare but I loved that lunch!! I look SO forward to all your videos!!! 👍😊

Wow, that's a lot of work you put into school supply purchasing. I'm so happy school supplies are supplied by the schools in the Netherlands (primary school at least, and no school fees and extra costs for supplies). We don't have to buy anything, except a backpack and a snack box (one lasts multiple years).

Thank you so much for taking time to get what the teachers request. I retired from teaching after 31 years, and it is so disappointing to realize many parents simply assume if their child does not have what is needed, it will be supplied by someone else. That is true, and the someone else is usually the teacher. We spend time making out the supply lists, and we try very hard to keep the parents’ budget in mind, especially for those families with several children. If a certain color folder is requested, there is a reason for it. Most of the time it is to aid in the classroom organization which is so very important to keep things running smoothly. The communal supplies, like tissues, run out very quickly if every child has not contributed. I realize it can be time consuming and pricy because we, as teachers, usually have children of our own to buy supplies for. Thank you for the tips and suggestions you have given to help other parents navigate the sometimes deep beginning of school waters.

Love this! My first step is a little different as I go through the kids backpacks (they dont unpack after last day). Anything on their list that they can reuse i go ahead and mark off so I don't have to purchase anymore. Then I make a similar master list - we are given a list on the last day of school so i have all summer to purchase things. I use my cricut and sticker paper to make each child a page of name stickers that I can use to label their things. After everything is bought then the kids come in either to label their own items or collect and pack their items.

Lauren that takes me back a few years ago when my son was still in school. I used to love taking him shopping for clothes and school supplies. It is a good feeling when you send your child or children to school, knowing you have tried your best to have them ready and comfortable to learn. It is not easy by any means. Great idea with the planner. I was in college when my son was in grade school and junior high and I used a planner. It was my other bible. Never went anywhere without it. If it was not for my planner I would have been a mess. Granted I only had one child compared to your four. But between college and raising a small child it was a lot. I have four kiddos as well. This year we had the smallest supply list I’ve ever had. I have one child who for sure likes to help with the entire process. Same with cooking, my boys always want to help. Which is nice but also messy:) Where are the kids while you organize, cook, when they are not in school?

I used to do the same with buying the books all for the year. But I would by 2 copies. One for me and one for the child. I would read it and see what they had to say about it. But if I didn’t read the book, I would not know what they were talking about. But your doing a good job stay on top of your kids and home life.
