Not many women can do that as they are single women working menial jobs. Lauryn might not have came up front herself anymore because she could afford to. She wrote songs for other artists which she got paid money that could cover her bills and take care of her children. I think sorry I know if more women could do it they would.

I understand Lauryn's decisions. I get it. 100,000%. And those decisions, were hers and hers alone, to make. Lauryn let show business/ the industry go, in order to focus on and to take care of her first born. Zion. She KNEW it wouldn't be an easy feat. Lauryn sacrificed one thing, for another. And that was her career. She chose Zion, and to "Start a Family", OVER her career. She "knew" 2 things are way way more important, than the other. God, her FAMILY. My birthday is May 25th and Lauryn’s birthday is May 26th I was in my last semester of college and I was on the road to become a pop artist. I had just finished my EP when I found out I was pregnant. Many family members expected me to abort my child but I chose to give him life. When I was 6 months pregnant. My son’s father passed away. So I was having him alone. My family played this song at my baby shower. They made a beautiful bird cage and each member marched up and gave me written messages/wishes on butterfly shaped pieces of paper that inputting the cage. I still have some of my butterfly wishes. 10 years later I cry whenever I hear this song!!!! ❤

This song became my personal favorite…being I too experienced the anxiety of becoming a new mother and the uncertainty that comes with an unplanned pregnancy. This song has a double meaning… it’s for her son but also a declaration of her faith…Zion means The kingdom of God or The Holy place. When her son arrived it gave her life a new meaning. She thanked God for her child …for through that child she truly understood God the fathers love for her as his child. Her new found joy was in Zion her son who reflected the joy of God. Joel 3:17 “17 “Then you will know that I, the Lord your God, dwell in Zion, my holy hill. Jerusalem will be holy; never again will foreigners invade her.”

Lauryn needs a 6 month rest & recovery vocal chords rest. One of my fave singers but her nodes sounds inflamed. Rest, breathwork, proper vocal coach to help her with shift in voice with childbirth & aging, right teas, and meditation. All the best to one of the greatest we ever had.
