What she said about the “Don’t look a gifted horse in the mouth” being a reference to the Trojan horse is not true. You can tell a horse’s age by examining their teeth. So the saying basically means “If somebody gives you a free horse don’t go looking at the teeth in their mouth to rate the horse’s quality, just thank the person for the free horse”

(Copied this from a reply I sent to a different comment) The fact that her name is Bessy reminds me of when my friends and I went to an escape room, we failed and knew that a monster (really an actor in costume) was gonna come for us. So we huddled into the first room, the girl was getting scared, the boys (including myself) were getting antsy, our nonbinary friend had seen the scene before so they knew what was coming, and then I had the idea of “what if we named him something super unintimidating and we chant it when he comes in?” So we named him Jerry and started chanting “JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!”. When he came in finally, it was a very grotesque monster mask and he had a bloodied machete. We cheered and went “AYYY, JERRY!”. My friend’s mom was the manager of the escape room, and told the actor to scare the crap out of us, but we kinda took the wind out of her sails. It was pretty funny, and to this day, we refuse to explain who Jerry is to all who didn’t come to the escape room, and we still reference him, even saying we need to go back and visit Jerry so we can finally finish the game.

I just realized that three friends diner could be word play, as in "the" three friends diner almost like bessie feasts on three friends it explains why the bodies were said to be half eaten but the bodies could be half eaten because the three people she kept weren't really friends more like co-workers. Bessie probably watched them to see who were friends and who weren't and when she found them she would get rid of anyone else by any means necessary she ended up miscalculating and instead of completely devouring them she just stopped, like a little kid eating dinner and stop eating it because they don't like it.
