Best thing is to keep personal life private. Never share your problems with co-workers. Only share it with people you know for a fact you can absolutely trust. And if they want to get you to say something so they can fuck you over, by getting you to engage in drama, just respectfully say either you have no opinion, or better still; just politely excuse yourself.

silence creates anonymity which creates mysteriousness which creates curiosity and creates power. One must be careful and truly own this characteristic because it can either make people respect you or fear you which triggers insecurity and can make you target for rumors, preconceived notions and suspicion. I've dealt with it a lot.

Hmm i like this law the most. And the reason why is that when im with friends, or i'm just socialising i realize that people care more about what they have to say then what you have to say. So i always say less and ask question to let them keep talking. I like it is fun, and they are all feel so comfortable, around me.

Now, I am still standoffish to an extent but I do speak up with conviction to show people I am not a pushover or a sucker. But, I do understand your point and it is wise to speak less and let fools talk more.

This is true, I once had a co worker tell me one time: if u would listen more then talk too people, u will find out everything u need to know about people because they will tell you. The problem is if you are not a effective listener and are not listening to understand in the first place, how would u know? It's like I had to discern when too talk and when too shut up. It's a blessing and a curse, almost like a two edge sword, either way u have to pick your poison.

I find myself recalling this law whenever my VP/director comes near me. I get pressured to say something because of his/her presence in my space/vicinity however sometimes I would have liked to express how they have changed my life and made me brave but somehow I feel it is not necessary for me to say that although its an expression of gratitude I somehow feel I should still apply this rule even then. Although I do not know if this is the right thing to do I just trust/have faith in this law. And seems to be working well so far I have not come across as a foolish/immature guy. I always think before I speak like would saying this make any usefulness to the other person or worth their time and because of this law I always think before I speak anything. I have now become very comfortable with silence very calm and focused. Sometimes I wonder if I come across as arrogant even after people try to make themselves available to talk although I am not sure why they make me realize they are available by their presence? It's a weird feeling like I never had any strangers make me feel their presence for me before like who am I for them? I just don't know why they are playing games and trying to mess with my head although I completely know I am very underperforming employee who is not of much importance to the company I am no genius I have no accolades I am just another guy next door. I just dont know where to draw the line between silence and arrogance so I have added another rule "speak when you are spoken to". I try to speak as openly as possible with best manners when someone does want to talk to me.

Wow......Good stuff bro. Iam a naturally introverted and laconic pisces. And my innate silence attracts women and make people so uncomfortable. Iam also real laid back and when people talk to me, I can see how uncomfortable they are as I just observe what they are saying and their body language. Especially when I just nod in between sentences and glaze at them they always do fill in the gap. Sometimes I do it deliberately because I like that people are uncomfortable around me, makes me feel well. ....powerful. Listen more and talk less......if you have nothing to say, than say just that. "Sometimes I do it deliberately because I like that people are uncomfortable around me, makes me feel well. ....powerful." I know your not asking for advice but to me this sounds like a dangerous line to tread. Sometimes you have to go against your nature to play smart and appease those your around.
@michaeldavis8800
@michaeldavis8800 7 жыл бұрын
You have to accept me as I am. I cant go against my nature just as a lion or a turtle cant go against theirs. Plus people know thats how I am and get used to it. Iam happily married with kids so as long as my wife is happy, naw iam cool. Thanks for your advice though.
@AlexanderEmmanual
@AlexanderEmmanual 7 жыл бұрын
Take this with a grain of salt because you say what your doing is working for you and you and your family are happy: but "you have to accept me as I am." is a cop out line equivalent to the classic Tinder bio "if you cant handle me at my worst then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best". Law 48: Assume Formlessness. Always adapt and grow. (My opinion and perspective)
@michaeldavis8800
@michaeldavis8800 7 жыл бұрын
I respect your opinion and perspective wholeheartedly. But for me to change my nature, as if there is something wrong with me being reserved and taciturn I dont understand the logic in that. For me to periodically change my nature and adapt a personality thats not me is exactly whats wrong with society. Its a facade, its a social mask. There is nothing mischievous in me getting a kick out of seeing how uncomfortable people are around quiet people and it does make one feel in control which is (power).......My perspective.

If you talk less or don't talk at all, people will find you weird..like for example, I'm a highschool student and when I'm around my friends or with normal people..I noticed that when I limite my words or I just listen and say a little enough, they seem to back out slowly...like everything becomes awkward and sometimes they end up going to others to talk to. But when I talk to them...even sometime a load of Bulsh**t everything is all happy and great and they get into the convo and all so, what should I do? I need a little advice.

Hey Anna, that's a good question. If you wanted to have a back and forth conversation its a little easier on my page here: facebook.com/alexandersandalis But I will still answer the best I can. You are right in saying "if you don't talk at all, people will find you weird" because talking less or not at all can make people suspicious about your motives and intentions. So sometimes words are needed to comfort others. Even though you may find them pointless, they have a place in maintaining balance within a social group. I would would only be guessing as to why your friends are backing away slowly and making it awkward. But my educated guess would say people find 'black sheep' uncomfortable. Meaning when your behaviour is vastly different from the majority, you increase the potential to be ostracized. They are going to others to talk because that's what they want to do - talk. High school is a time when fickleness and superficiality is at an all time high. Generally speaking high schoolers / teenagers care more about what type of image you display, than what type of person you actually are. I would say a "a load of bullshit" makes them happy because it's easy and comforting to talk about the little things, the fun things, the things that don't have much substance as opposed to the reality we live in. People are comforted by the bullshit because it makes them forget about their own bullshit life. You ask what you should do. I would ask yourself, is the circle you surround yourself a group of people you look up to? Do those people make you better? Do those people make you want to be better? Do the uplift you and your state? If you really wanted to take this seriously. Write it down. Write those answers down and evaluate whether you need to slowly start cutting ties with certain people and surrounding yourself with the people you are inspired by. Now I completely understand this is a very challenging thing to do because it is 'high school' and everyone wants to make you believe like there's nothing more important than high school, when you're in high school. But I promise you if you have the courage to take action against self destructive people that don't uplift you, than you will go far.

It depends what the context is. Generally you'd use this in sales or negotiation of some sort, not in casual conversation with friends or normal people. You can't just not say anything and expect people to like you because there has to be a flow of communication because generally people like to make sure the people they're friends with have things in common with them or things they can learn from them. If you say nothing or just the minimum, they won't be able to tell and might make you appear untrustworthy or weird.

True. There has to be a flow of conversation. Even if you're a good listener, people will find you weird and off putting if you seldom say anything. The king could get away with it well because he was the king. It 's like when I am the boss, I am listened to much more and my jokes are much funnier. :) I've found that revealing nothing personal about myself, works well but participating in banter about sport, tv shows, etc. makes you likable.

Finesse. Thats what your words have to do. Problem with the logic in the video is that many other people will see you holding back. When people catch on that you are being manipulative with horseshit logic that is also a criminal tactic you will be deemed untrustworthy. Its easy to you sill tactics like this on fools but why would you want to take the time to be King of fools?

ckryegrass11 you can be open to others while saying less than necessary. In fact this law makes you become a better listener because it reminds you to keep your words vague and open ended which makes for better conversations.

Not a about what you do but how you do it. Never involve yourself gossip or never speak from an emotional standpoint such as, I like, I dislike, I love, I hate. Think before u speak. Always express anything as a thought with I think. And always respect your mind giving it a chance to observe your surroundings.

Your real friends will like who you are for real. This video is if you want to be cool or fuck people phycoligicly or in a gang seaking to control or intimidate. If your a bible man this is reversed. Look at jesus every one hated him. For telling the truth. He had power influins in the truth they were afraid he would rise an army. The masses wanted him to be king . You dont have to gosip . Thats what gets you into trouble. Let them talk and hait you they haited jesus first .
