Doflamingo is obviously an in-name-only reference to the novel Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes, but Rocinante is a reference as well. It's the name of Don Quixote's horse in the novel.

Corazon just means heart, thats why Law was almost the third Corazon, it's not a name but more so a title. Doflamingo's brothers name is Donquixote Rosinante. It's safe to assume that Diamante, Pika, and Trbol are all code names too, but I don't think their real names are ever revealed.

Fun little anime fact: In the original manga, that arrow actually hits little Doflamingo. For some reason, despite literally showing piles of dead children last episode, Toie wanted to censor Doffy getting shot so had it hit the wall right next to him. Yet still give him the same reaction he had in the manga.

These past few episode we received an overload of lore of several characters. I had to rewatch these last 2 episodes just to make mental motes of all the lore that was dropped. Oda knows how to keep us on our toes.

Law’s name comes from 2 battles in the Napoleonic Wars. Trafalgar and Waterloo. Both were major events where Napoleon was defeated in battle. Could also tie into the Will of D being the ones who bring down empires.

He didn't only take a liking to Law because of the initial (though that did help). His entire job there was to deter kids from joining Doffy's family. That's why he said "those 3" when referring to Buffalo, Baby 5 and Dellinger as being targets he already failed to deter. Law having the initial and suffering from that disease just made him feel all the more worse for him which made him quickly decide to try and help him which led to forming a bond with him. Plus.. ironically I feel like Law stabbing him and then deciding to not tell Doffy already started that relationship lmao

Very interesting fun fact: One of the hospitals/cities that they went to to try and cure Law's disease was the Lyneel Kingdom, the same one where Mont Blanc Noland from the Skypeia arc came from. Even they had no cure even though they were pretty advanced in learning how to cure various plagues and illnesses.

The nobles set them up so hard. Putting them smack dab in the middle of an area with a bunch of people who suffered from the Celestial Dragons. If they had sent them further away, like Luffy's hometown, then the Donquixote family would be fine.

Law's surname 'Trafalgar' could be a reference to the Battle of Trafalgar. A famous sea war between the France & Germany Vs. Spain.

Law's backstory is crazy... it's one of those stories that you already know the ending to (Law already mentioned several episodes ago what Doffy does to Cora-san) and yet it still had us all utterly on the edge of our seats anyways 😭 Oda you madman Jack cookin' with the D. and Cora-san theorizing at the end there 😎 Something Law himself still struggles with.... 😢

1:42 I don't think it was Doflamingo's father who did any of that. It was the other Celestial Dragons who tortured all those people and made them suffer. But they see the Celestial Dragons as being all just one and the same - plus the others, the ones who did hurt them, they know they'll never be able to get back and them, so they're attacking this family of former Celestial Dragons because it's the closest they'll ever be able to get to having revenge on those who made their lives living hell.

THIS is why i love oda creation of villains cuz other mangaka tend to make their villain back story sad which in turn make them bad, and make readers sympathize on the villain but doflamingo is different i can't get to sympathize the guy and its so satisfying to see the MC defeat the villain
