Exactly! They think that is non violent. Thats bs..he will NEVER be a contributing. "Person" of society. They added all these people plus molesters killers and rapist into the 1st step act that trump so gladly signed..its all BS!!! They need to build more jails and keep florida safe..or safer then what its becoming now after that bill 😠 The Senate and president need to come up with a 2nd act bill 😠😠

This is ridiculous most of these offenders are serving outrages sentences to begin with, especially on drug offenses.. This is outrageous that we're still at 85% when 65% is more logical and cost effective. We're one of the only states with such a high mandatory serve requirement for non violent offenders .This would lessen the burden of overcrowding and staff shortages. It's common sense, I personally think they make so much money off these prisoners and their families they're not willing to let that go...

Are you nuts?? The woman who wants her son to only serve 65% of his time instead of 85% is incarcerated for molesting a victim age less than 12 years old. The US should adopt a death penalty stance. Depending on the murder degree and guilt being proven or if your crime takes a life. Yes, including drunk driving. You should lose your life. Secondly, if you RAPE/MOLEST/CHILD ABSURER you should get the death penalty. It will be hard to draw it all up, but it is doable. Some offenses should not be for a prison sentence.

All the issues rests at the feet of the 20+ year Republican majority control at the state level. They also control the legislative committees that determine which bills get passed.
@jasoncrandall73
@jasoncrandall73 2 жыл бұрын
Do you understand that Republicans control where all the revenue goes, which bills can get debated (committees) & the future priorities of each department going forward? Take the Affordable housing trust fund where Republicans diverted (until recently) money from it yearly into the general fund. Where toll rolls (especially Express lanes) are being added at a huge amount to the roadway system in this state. Affordable housing has been a issue in this state for decades (I moved here in February 1993). I have lived in 5 counties in this state so far. I have also noticed that there has been a sharp decline in the use of those devices that actually count vechile traffic on the roadways. Also a lot of these roadways in this state was designed for a lot less vechile traffic (how many vechiles do you think Hwy301, Hwy41, Hwy92 or SE60 was designed to handle 20 years ago?). Wait till the next election for Governor when all Desantis will talk about is Biden even tho Biden has no control of state spending or state issues.

Meanwhile murders are sitting in county jail for 4 to 6 years before going to prison . I agree let old folks out now , make the prison become more self sustainable. Get a big farm program for each prison to save money on food and Increase pay.

Norway prisons won't work here in America. I'm tired to you libtards repeating that nonsense. Norway don't have the type of criminals we have here in the US.

I think the second elderly inmates don't even get proper pain management my friend who works there says they usually just get Motrin hopefully the newer prisons would also have air conditioning so they're not agitated and fighting

As a corrections officer in Florida, I won’t say what Prison but a lot of the officers are getting exposed to being sick with the black mold in the buildings no air conditioners, extreme heat overworked we used to work 12 hour shifts then the state said we’re gonna work 8 to 8.5 hour shifts so we can be with our families more which is not true because now we’re working 16 hour shiftsand it’s been very tired. Some you don’t know when you get off work you’re stressed out all the time your command treat you like crap. Your fellow workers are completely warped out of the frigging heads and the Pay socks.

Sentences like the 22 years given to the teacher Jennifer Fichter are ridiculous . I doubt she is ever likely to commit the offence again or a danger to the public . More gain time for the likes of her should be given .

Or maybe send non violent offenders who have demonstrated they are mentally fit to serve out the rest of there time at home or house arrest.

I agree. My son did get his Help with addiction finally, only after they found he was sexually assaulted in Hamilton CI. We're he should have never been put. It was his first time. He is autistic and they beat him at Duval County jail...? 😢 As well he had to have a 3 hour surgery to have pins, bolts and rods and a whole metal shoulder? No one cares!!?? Why? Then as I was putting in form after form for all of this they kept denying it and saying it was all unfounded😂. They had one of the police officers from the Department that did this to my son. Call me and my daughter over and pull his gun out on us and threaten us and then we never went to that area again we were so terrified!!? 😮😢 !? We can't even find a lawyer to take the case because they're terrified....

Sure, let the criminals go free, and if they are imprisoned, provide first rate food and accommodations…four walls, machine gun towers and a yard, thats it. Get that electric chair fired up to clear out the population.

If anybody has seen what drugs can do to a neighborhood they might find these outrageous sentences justified. A heart pumps blood through your veins like drugs pump crime through the streets. Keep em in there.

Drug offenses are one thing..and i totally stand by u on that. But they wont just stop there. They will let out offenders they call low level but are so far from low level 😠 Just like the 1st step act they let out child molesters rapist and killers. Now they want to know why we are in such bad shape 😠 Those kind cant be reformed. The senators and the last president knew that. And he still so very proud of that.

Let's keep the rapist in murderers in there these are the ppl walking free in that's a threat to the community & let's teach out kids not to do drugs in stop feeling sorry for them let's think about how is people getting a hold to drugs let's stop the people that's bringing it over here & my brother on drugs he doesn't want the help I stop feeling sorry for him it's no one fault but him he chose to do drugs he doesn't want to help nobody should have to sit in prison for what he wants to do
