Outstanding valve job with superior explanations and extremely accurate videography. Except for the most important shot at the end proving that he tripled the compression! 😂 Anyway keep up the great work and thanks again. 👍👍👍

Great video-very helpful. The one thing I wish video makers would keep in mind is that us gals work on small engines, cars, trucks, etc. My father was an awesome mechanic and taught me a lot. He never got past 6th grade but could read so when he needed to know how to do something, he would pick up a book. He would be amazed at today's KZfaq videos. Keep up the good work and THANKS!!!

I saw the paper trick from Taryl. I learn a lot of good tricks from him. I got the carb later in the day yesterday and it runs really well. My bother in law is going to be happy with it. He has the perfect small driveway for that little machine. Plus it is 2 stage, so it should throw the snow about 12-15 feet. Thanks for clicking the links I did not know that Amazon is not switched over to a UK version when you click the links.

My question is what stroke should the piston be on to check my valve lash...on a car it's at the end of the exhaust stroke with piston at tdc abd both valves close but I'm seeing where everyone is saying to check the valve lash on the end of the compression stroke...which is correct? End of exhaust stroke as I know tdc on a car both valves are open the same amount which isn't right to my knowledge

What site do you use to look up the engine specs or do you use multiple? I always seem to find what I need but it would be really nice if there someplace that listed a bunch of that stuff. Great vid. I am currently working on a Cub Cadet ZTR with a kawasaki and used your vid for some reference so i surely appreciate that. I had laugh at the end of this one because like you, the carb is the last piece i need to run and the wait is killing me. It would probably help if kawasaki sold carb kits instead of just individual pieces.Thanks for all the time you take to do these.

Just did this on mine. Absolutely no clearance for the exhaust valve. The machine ran pretty good, but didn't like to idle and would occasionally die. Upon using it, it barely had any power and would bog down easily. Most annoying part was getting the shroud with the recoil reinstalled. Complete pain in the ass, since it was such a perfect fit. Fiddled with it for probably 30 minutes, bending the bottom and tapping it on.

When do you do a valve job on a flat head valve engine?
@1575murray
@1575murray 3 жыл бұрын
When compression and power are reduced and a cylinder leak down test indicates that you have leakage from the valves. The exhaust valve is the usual suspect as it tends to run hotter than the intake valve. If you have smoke and increased oil consumption then the rings are usually at fault.
