Did that with a new tube ant compressed tire but just as the tire started to seat the stem valve ripped out of the tube. That was a wasted 37 dollars?? I guess I will buy a second tube as there seems to be know other choices. Thanks for the video it will help on my second try

Why would you not cut out the rust Before welding on new plate? Now you have a nice new piece of metal welded over old rust that will continue to rust.

Excellent! Just inherited one of these. It runs fine and this is great info for future reference. These self propelled models get all clogged up with grass and dirt under the front belt housing and need to be kept clean too.

I have a bypass seal leaking. Is it possible to remove and replace the bypass seal without draining the fluid and removing the transmission? It looks like I have enough room to pull the bypass shaft and remove and replace the seal.

So i did this to mine. i mean it was prolly less damaged than yours. But i did all mine to 1000 grit. Added a tab of grease on that lil key along with the bearings and the pistons so they would stay in place upon assembly. Installed with fresh 20w50. Attempted to purge the system (yes i have leaky external seal on top where the oullry is) but. The thing should still pull better than it is. ITS NOW WORSE! I WAS EXPERIENCING OVERHEATING AFTER ABOUT A HOUR OF MOWING. NOW IT SEEMS TO BE FOING SAME STUPID BS WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF STARTUP. I EVEN USED A WHOLE BOTTLE OF LUCAS

On these Carbs u can pull the spacers out of the air box base then slide them over the carb bolts. This allows you to bolt the carb back down without the air box on so you can adjust it while on the machine running.

I got one yesterday. Looking forward to using it on just over an acre. Almost got a Craftsman/this one was less money after discounts and more financing,,,12 instead of 6 months 0%. I think I'll be glad I got this. Went from 48 Simplicity to this big 54. Good review btw.

Thanks for the clear and well paced video. A safety reminder is that the starting capacitor can be charged up and waiting to give you a good zapp. It may not kill you but the shock can jerk your body to hit something you'd rather not be hitting. You're wearing rubber gloves, so you're good.

Thanks for this. I had a stuck valve. $95 to replace (for an old grill on its last legs); a full one-quarter the cost of decent new grill. It never would have occurred to me, but heating that puppy up freed it up. The valve is good as new (but, of course, the rusted/oxidized/stripped/broken screws are the challenge now).

Seems like with the key on... it would keep spinning the starter even after the tractor cranks up. Shouldn't the starter stop spinning once the tractor cranks? But if you turn the key off, it turns off the tractor?

I'm in the process of making a 9.5" bacon press out of 3/8 diamond plate. My goal is to heat it on one of the stove burners while i pre heat the cast skillet and it'll cook both sides at the same time. Should bring cooking time way down. I got a handle for a wood stove off Amazon for $7. Just need to soak it in vinegar to derust the diamond side and weld on the handle and season it. I don't think I've ever been so excited to cook bacon. It should work great

Thanks for doing this video, it's quite useful. On the motor side I ground down the extra casting so I could run straight across the entire face. I used a block of granite for both. Mower runs excellent after resurfacing both transmissions.

Used the ratchet strap, worked great until I ended up in the hospital lol 😢 I inflated the tire with the ratchet strap on a little too much.. I then used a 12 inch piece of 15 mil rebar to pop the ratchet release as it was under pressure.. The rebar was then driven a half inch into my hand my palm but it was good because it caused the rebar to rotate, glancing off my forehead and landing about 30 feet away. Yup, Nailed it! 🎉
