David Lean's Masterpiece 'Lawrence of Arabia' will be re-released the year (2012), for it's 50th Anniversary presented in 4K. Starring Peter O'Toole, Alec Guinness & Omar Sharif I do not own any rights for this video.

I was a dedicated student in university and grad school, but the only time I played semi-hookey was the night Lawrence's 50th anniversary screening coincided with one of my evening classes. I went through half of the class and then excused myself in time to make it to the theater and get a good seat.

Lawrence of Arabia is my all time favourite movie. I had the immense privilege of watching this master piece on the silver screen in May 2013 and I was totally blown away. I'm so deeply saddened by Sir Peter O'Toole's passing. RIP Peter. We'll never forget you.

Good bye Peter O'Toole. I'll watch Lawrence of Arabia one more time in your remembrance. You were one in a billion in that film Mr. O'Toole. That's how special you were. You were classy, morally good, and handsome as hell. This, in my opinion, is one of the best films of all time. The music, cinematography, and acting was supreme. But most of all Peter, I just want to see your blonde hair and blue eyes. Rest easy Mr. O'Toole. Rest easy.

One of the greatest films ever made - one of the most iconic performances ever. Never be anything to compare to Director Lean's Lawrence of Arabia and Peter O'Toole. How I love this film and him! The 1998-'89 restoration with all scenes restored was magical; how this will be I cannot imagine. I saw it as a young girl in Apr. '63 and have loved it & Peter since. Peter: There will never be another like you. You are as magnificent as the entire film itself is. Indelible perfection. I luv ya...

I was privilaged enough to see the digitally restored version on the big screen a couple of weeks ago and let me tell you, it was simply breathtaking! The picture quality is unbelievable, almost 3-dimensional: you can see every puff of dust under the camels' feet, the embroidery on the Bedouin costumes, the more subtle nuances of the acting that just can't be seen on TV. On the small screen Lawrence Of Arabia is merely a great film, on the big screen it's a miracle!

Most of the magnificent desert scenes we see on the screen were filmed in Wadi Rum which is not too far to the east and northeast of Aqaba in southern Jordan. Locate and watch the making of Lawrence of Arabia. It is probably included in the $64 dollar version of this Blu-ray release.

Yall are stupid or mistaken. This film isn't in 4K it's a regular 1080p Bluray. It was REMASTERED IN 4K meaning it used a new 4K transfer of the film elements. This allows a more detailed and accurate restoration before downscaling to 1080p. Also, this is a badass restoration of the film. It would be hard to find this film with similar visual and audio clarity in a 35mm or 70mm reel of film. Film ages, so picture and audio quality degrade over time. Color suffers especially badly on some prints, due to old manufacturing techniques and color methods. Even the best stored film in the best conditions will degrade eventually. Digital is forever, and this is a fine quality way to view the film even 1000 years from now. The color, fine detail, and visual depth are all superb. The original film grain is beautifully preserved, and the audio track is excellent, unlike some of the butchery jobs I've heard over the years. If you can criticize this Bluray after seeing it in person, you are blind.

Astronomical Eclips in Warfare: July 05, 1917 Thomas Edward Lawrence aka "Lawrence of Arabia" used his knowledge of astronomical phenomena to carry out a daring night raid under the darkness of a total eclipse of the Moon. While the defenders were preoccupied by the Lunar eclipse, T.E. Lawrence and his troop of fifty Bedouin successfully pressed home their attack on the city of Aqaba - Jordan. No wonder why he became such an icon of leadership.

Yeah, the problem I have with older films (1960s and below) is the sound restoration. I've seen some excellent picture restoration and resolution however the sound is always off. The music and sound effects will be perfect and the dialogue is hardly audible. Regardless, this film is a masterpiece and easily one of the top thirty greatest films ever made. our contemporary to Lawrence is Charlie Wilson, who covertly obtained CIA money to arm the Afghan rebels with Stingers to defeat the mighty Soviet Union in the 1980s. The parallels between them are stunning. Read the book "Charlie Wilson's War" and also "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" by T.E. Lawrence. Lawrence was a very brilliant man and the book is great for its history and insights. Lawrence and Wilson both helped tribal people fight against organized armies, amazing stories.
