I used to spend Saturday nights with my Great Grandmother in the 70's and we always watched Lawrence Welk. Now 50 years later I still watch on PBS every Saturday night.😊

❤ this even tho they were always repeats for my age but i loved them all while my friends usually laughed at me. 😊. Today I'd love to go to dinner and dancing or a variety show. Alas those are no more.

This former farmer boy says THANKS SO MUCH for posting this classic Welk Show here on a Saturday (its traditional airing day)!!! I had just enjoyed my 5th birthday party on January 14th of that year and you could bet our farm family was cozied up in our modest farm house Living Room as we'd finish our baths (for church the next morning) and be enjoying this fine family entertainment!!! 🎼🎶🎙😍😍😍

Love watching these old episodes because it gives me a chance to see my childhood hero, Pete Fountain, do his wonderful thing. I had a ball watching that "Pete's Fountain" number! I had to wonder though if Pete was asking himself, "How come we don't serve bourbon at my place? I'd much rather serve that than ice cream." Oh, Pete! You were the absolute best!

I was 12 years old when this aired, and my parents always watched it. Which meant that my brother and I also watched it. (Just as whatever was put on the dinner table we were expected to eat.) I actually liked the show although much seems dated, even corny, looking at it now. Lawrence Welk always delivered a wide variety of much song and dance and there pretty much had to be something that you liked. This show is from the era when Big Tiny Little played the ragtime piano and Jo Ann Castle would replace him later that year.

This is great! I didn't get to watch these because I was born in this year. Later, when these became the Lawrence Welk show, we watched them then. I truly love the fins on that 59 Plymouth. Thanks for this upload.

Odds are excellent I was watching this when it first aired. Ten years old on a Saturday night, laying on the floor with a full belly after dinner. This was great! I enjoyed it all, even the commercials.

Give it up for Janet in this episode; from passing out fountain sodas to vaudeville dancing, that girl was a jack-of-all-trades when it came to variety. Never mind, that for the latter, one of her partners was a...well...Jack! 🙂

I liked Mary Lou a lot better. This is the first time that I watched Janet Lennon doing more than just singing because I was only 2 years old when this episode was broadcast, but I still like Mary Lou Metzger a lot better. Mary Lou Metzger was an excellent singer, actress, and tap dancer. She and Jack were an awesome pair when it came to tap dancing and singing at the same time! Mary Lou Metzger was a much better tap dancer than Arthur Duncan was.

@@lynettepalecek3141 Regarding your last sentence in comparison of Arthur, I feel that it is best to remember that some of his taps came from him being heavily influenced by many, well before he joined the LW show. As for ML, she received lots of tips and help from Jack after she joined, and she has admitted more than once as host that he has been huge for her for many of the "steps" she took. Getting back to Janet, my comment had to do more with the fact that if the LW/Plymouth show was to be of true variety, Janet and others were unafraid of perhaps leaving their comfort zones.

@@davidlikuski1880 I stand by what I said about Mary Lou Metzger. She may have taken lessons from Jack, but she was a very good student. She was also an excellent actress and singer. She came across as having natural talent when it came to singing and acting. That was quite obvious. You have your opinion and I have mine. Let's just leave it at that.

Do you have any episodes of "The Lawrence Welk Show" from the 1970s when Tom Netherton was on the show singing an old fashioned Christian hymn? I loved watching those episodes. I also love watching the original commercials.
