Currently an Amazon driver for close to a year now and actually was just awarded DA of the month for my station from Amazon for January and I have to say you nailed it with your comments on driving for Amazon. Even though you didn't work there long youre right about wanting to work for the corporation not a contractor. So I just got hired on at FedEx express today and it's for the exact same reasons. You're absolutely right about the overtime at USPS. I haven't worked there myself but both of my parents are both city carriers with about 30 years so I know everything about working there without ever having worked there. So we'll see how it goes at express but I'm pretty sure I made the right choice because although I would like to have the option for a lot of overtime I also value work/life balance vs being overworked and being able to choose overtime instead of being forced to work it. I do like more money though. It's a tough one but at the end of the day after all of the jobs I've ever worked Ive noticed I'm happier when I have more time with the family. Great video! Keep it up! Any updates on how it's going at express and maybe something about the onboarding process would be cool too.

Your response is right on as well! I agree with everything you said OT is good when you want it but being forced to do it week after week can be really draining for sure. In my case at the moment not doing overtime at Express means paycheck to paycheck pretty much, so that is the great thing about the Post Office you dont have to worry about hours. For me it took about 3 weeks to get in I've talked to others and some say it took them like 2 two weeks. Once your in you will have to do defensive driving training, which is a bunch of computer training and then your road test (which isnt too bad) they may have you help unloading in the process up until its time for you to get started on a route or routes depending on if your a swing driver or not. I had a day in life video posted months ago but I had to take it down lol

I’ve been working for Amazon for about 5 months and it’s good but mentally and physically stressful at times. The pay is pretty good I’m getting $750 a week working 4 days, usually 10-11 hours per shift. I’m thinking of applying for USPS to have a long term government job that pays good as a backup job to becoming a police detective. I hear in the news all the time that USPS are understaffed and overworked. Being it’s a government service job I see it as sort of like being in the military where you have to sacrifice yourself to some degree for the greater good. So if I had that mentality going into USPS maybe that would make the job easier to tolerate for me

I have offers for CCA at USPS and full time courier for FedEx Express. I am really torn honestly because I know they are going to work me like a slave for two years before becoming a career employee at USPS but it does in fact leads to a career position with full benefits and a pension and TSP. FedEx Express has good benefits and all but it takes longer to go up in the pay scale and while the 401k is generous it can't touch a pension. I can also buy back 5 years for military with USPS. Thanks for the video it was helpful.

As a career carrier at USPS I can say that it’s not worth it. Yea the pay and benefits are decent( depending on where you live) but management is very incompetent. They’ll try to force you to work on your days off and most offices are usually down routes. People always call in which means everyone else has to take up the slack. The vehicles are old and always breaking down. If you want the overtime and no home time with your family than this job is for you. I’m not trying to be a negative prick but I’m speaking from experience. I’ve been a carrier for almost 4 years and I can say that the cons out weigh the pros. I make 50 to 55k a year but you gotta bust ass for it. I mean when you get off work all you wanna do it sleep lol from what I hear UPS has the best pay and benefits. If you can get an all driving route at USPS then it’s worth it but at my office most routes are all walking unless you’re high in seniority.

Fed Ex is way more organized, they will give you the uniform, you don’t have to pay for it (you’ll have to buy your own belt and socks and shoes) payroll is accurate, there is a work - life balance, which they understand, a mental health day, life, insurance, 401(k) plan, health and dental. As long as you do your job and you do it well and not get into trouble, you’ll be fine. It’s a very good company. I cannot speak for UPS or Amazon however, you do not want to work for the other one which I cannot mention but you can guess.

Fedex has been short changing their Fedex Ground Drivers for decades. Fedex keeps having record shareholder profits which sponsor shareholder buybacks at the expense of the "Back breaking Fedex Ground Driver's labor. A Fedex Ground Contractor named Spencer Patton just started a "trade association" to promote the well being of Fedex Ground Drivers. If you are a Fedex Ground Driver you can make a difference in your pay by anonymously writing the CEO of the company. Support Spencer Patton's new trade association. Higher pay for Fedex Ground Drivers can easily be achieved. Stop slipping on ice and falling on concrete for free in the winter! Fedex Ground Driver's deserve the same medical benefits and pay that Fedex Express and UPS drivers receive.

Post office has the best benefit but the fuckin hours will drive you crazy. I'm a CCA right now i work 6 days a week even on my day off they blowing up my phone. if you have a family or a wife forget about spending time with them bc you gonna spend most of your time working..The building are old The trucks are old AF no AC constantly breakin down. The manager will try to short ball your time once you hit 40 hours. You work Sunday to Saturday. One day off a week usually on a Tues or Weds. Most of the people in my office were depressed. On Mondays most of the regulars calles out. They treat you like shitt.. literaly.. This is my second time working there. I left the first time because they were messing with my hours. Also the Union is a joke they only look out for the regulars even tho they takin a cutt from your check every week. The union stewarts are a joke too most of them are best friends with the office supervisors. Now im abt to leave again bc its starting to take a toll on me physically and mental health. You have No schedual. some days they will call u in at 6am 8am or 9am. Sometimes they will ask you to come in at 11 because they have no trucks.. They are weeks I work 8 days straight. Every holiday I work except Christmas and New years. If you have no kids no life and don't mind working on holidays. The post office is the right job for you. Also they gave you good benefit bc by the time u make it to 10 years you'll have so many injuries and dog bites 😊..but it also depend on where you work if you work for a small town this a good job but if you working in a City this job is a nightmare.

To all Express employees, start brushing up that resume asap. The merger with ground is coming fast. Fedex doesn’t want employees anymore. Forget about a pension, 401k, or benefits. Express stations are being closed and the freight is going to be asorbed by Ground. All those 4Z split packages were just the beginning of the merger. Joe Blow logistics is going to be running your routes. Get your CDL now. Bid on a RTD job if possible and gain the experience. Mark my words, the PSP motto and the 10 step program went out the window 20 years ago. Now it is just “Profits, Severance, Profits”. Fat Freddy and Raj could care less about Express couriers.

You make enough to get by, 3 days off a week to pursue better money making endeavors, and its a decent amount of physical exercise to keep you in shape.
