That type of thing was common in the US, they were commercially made for a long time usually with a small single cylinder 8 horse power gasoline motor. Typically called a speeder or motorcar I’m actually in the process of restoring one that was made in 1923
@usaky_youtube
@usaky_youtube 2 жыл бұрын
yeah, state side they aren't that odd of a machine, though I do love how dramatic and futuristic "rail speeder" sounds for what is essentially a golf cart on tracks. Good Luck with your restoration!
@VintageRenewed

They were definitely not essentially a golf cart. Golf carts only go 12-14 mph Speeders are capable of running 25 or 30 mph and combined with the fact of no suspension and feeling every track joint. The speeders become a way more interesting ride than a golf cart

@@VintageRenewed apologies, I guess I was just going off looks vs any real knowledge. I'm sure they're the type of vehicle that can make 30 MPH feel like 80. Speeder probably feels like the perfect description when you're actually riding one.

The Talyllyn has always been my favourite narrow gauge railway in Wales and the one I have ridden on the most. Dolgoch Falls station is one of my favourite places. I wonder if the transmission is easy to shift because it has synchromesh? Since it came from a road vehicle, maybe the unit has some synchro's that help mesh in the gears? I notice there is no sounds of gear clashing when you shifted the gears so I'm speculating that the transmission is not atypical "crash" box transmission. I love the camera angles in this video. No walls, no bars on the sides and only a single hoop bar in the middle of each end to hang on to. @@lt1fd3s a token is a physical object which a train driver is required to have or see before entering onto a particular section of single track. The token is clearly endorsed with the names of the section it belongs to. A token system is more commonly used for single lines because of the greater risk of collision in the event of a mistake being made by a signaller or traincrew, than on double lines.
@studiocommer
@studiocommer 2 жыл бұрын
Lawrie was travelling between Pendre & Quarry siding, which covered 2 token sections of the Talyllyn (single line sections between passing loops) so carried the token issued at Pendre as far as Brynglas, locked that into block instrument before being able to unlock a token for the section between Brynglas & Forestry Crossing. The block instruments can only release next token once previous one is locked in - a system designed to prevent there being more than one train/loco in any one single line section at once.

Can you make your content accessible by formatting the auto captioning into closed captioning? It is extremely hard to enjoy your content having to keep concentration on the auto captioning and not be able to see your content properly sadly

Can you explain the difference between _"auto captioning"_ and _"closed captioning"_ please, as I thought they were synonymous.

@@BrassLock Turn on CC on this video and turn off sound, see how it is to watch, it doesn't show at all when there's too much background noise while they're talking. Now watch this with the caption turn on, this is closed captioning meaning it been edited (usually from KZfaq automatically generated caption) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qr2SgdWenLDTZZc.html

@@edscoble Thanks Edward for sending that link to the instructions for KZfaq creators, it was very interesting. However, I'm not a creator, so rely entirely upon the videos I watch to supply legible subtitles; I can only press "CC" on my phone screen and hope the Creator has gone to the trouble of following the KZfaq instructions. Otherwise I either get no result at all (worst scenario), or I get a very poor Google Translate result from Russian, German or Thai videos. But I shouldn't complain, I spent most of my life listening to International Short Wave broadcasts in English, which was a very limited "diet" indeed. At least now I can enjoy pictures, even if the audio is crap 🤩

As you've likey noticed, we've pushed our videos to two a week at the moment. This is taking all the time I have to be able to film, edit, and try to live. At the moment I do not have the time to be able to add the captions to a video. In the future, I would like to add the feature, but currently it would come at the expense of releasing a video, which would effect my earnings too greatly.

@@lmm As a _viewer,_ the pressing of *"CC"* on my smartphone enables closed captions. You don't have to do anything more as a _creator._ Two videos a week is far more work than 90% of creators. Very few do 3 a week such as *Itchy Boots,* and she got burnt out 2 years ago because of her workload. Now she takes a 2 week break each season, and paces her videos to strictly under 20 minutes, with minimal editing from 3 cameras and one drone. It's a hell of a workload.
