before all the oil free ppl get triggered, just know that most people shallow fry them and rose actually used a very small amount in comparison. my grandma would use like a half a cup of oil to fry one batch lmao

I love roasted seaweed, that stuff is like crack! I also didn't like the amount of plastic packaging buy I found in my local Korean shop that they sell them in large sheets in big multi packs. It's both cheaper and better for the environment!

It seems to me to be omurice without the egg. Except she uses gochujang instead of ketchup. I suspect cutting the gochujang with a little bit of ketchup may actually add a little bit of zing.

I love those seaweed snacks. I love plain rice with kimchee. My favorite! Speaking of kimchee, I am so thankful for your kimchee recipe! So delicious! Just made another half gallon of it and now I'm going through the painstaking waiting game for it to do its thing! Lol. And I happen to love your Korean lessons!

I love the gochujang fried rice. Making it today again to use up rice from yesterday’s dinner. My young kids don’t like spice so I just make it up to the gochujang part, then remove their portions and then add loads of spice for hubby and me 🤤👌🏻❤️

I make my own roasted red pepper sauce from mild peppers and ferment it at home. A little rice vinegar to adjust the tang and wow is it good. Could also add some medium new Mexican chili powder for a little bit of heat. Oh, and smoked paprika. It really is the Bomb.

You can buy the large sheets in bulk packages, and just toast them yourself. I buy one flat package of 100 sheets. Much better than the bulky snack package size.

love this Rose. as always. so the jeon is like um...battered chippies? could i use par-steamed sweet potatoes so its quicker? and could i air fry or oven bake em to crisp up without oil? gonna try it. ps...im an Aussie and i whinge quite a bit about how we take years to get exotic or exciting grocery items in our stores. (like the "hash browns" u guys buy frozen ....just grated spuds with NO OIL!!!) (been waiting 10 years...still waiting) anyhow im thrilled to say i just bought a cute lil tub of gochujang for $2.50 at local coles supermarket! yayyyy!!

A trick we learned from my Korean mother in law is to buy the large sheets of roasted seaweed and use a pair of scissors to cut them smaller. Makes a lot less plastic waste that way.

I can't handle a lot of Gochujang because it's too spicy, so when a receipe asks for it, I put a little Gochujang and add some ssamjang (less spicy). It works for me !

I must have been Korean in my other life...That giant container of gochujong...I would maybe try to pre-steam it, slice it, and them fry it, to save time frying. I love maki rolls, and the pickled veggies (Tam-mu-ji?). I think the yellow is turmeric maybe.

I think I was too, I’m obsessed with making Korean food! I think the yellow comes from annato in the pickled radish, I’ve seen it listed in the ingredients quite often.

If you dont like spice, miso is kind of conceptually like gochujang. But it's only soy, no peppers :)

Hate to tell you this but you need some oils and fats or your joints will suffer. A lot. Unless your doctors have said otherwise, you really should incorporate a little. I was no oil for a few years and I’m in pain every day at the age of 26 because of it.

For the Jeon you can do litterally the same thing with whole leafs of kimchi it's so 😭 (just make sure you got vegan kimchi but yeah)

The yellow is from turmeric, which has ANTI cancer causing effects, the curcumin in turmeric( the color) has been found to shrink some tumors. Naturally found color in our food is Where the nutrients are.

I could be totally wrong, but I'm pretty sure the store bought ones aren't yellow due to turmeric lol I'm almost certain there's a lot of artificial colouring or questionable ingredients 😅😢
