The touch screen is installed in this hight, because it also supports video-conference (see camera left side) and can be used by sitting on a chair. The whole house electric is controlled by EIB.

What makes this really cool is not only does it look like LCARS its actually functional! its a working terminal!

I have always admired the UI what is presented in star treks. They really are simple and good looking. Instead something like what we have today.

Yes, the screensaver running first is the free downloadable "system 47" and the screensaver at the end is "goldfisch". The the program between is DYI using ms visual studio c# express 2008 inluding a DIY lcars-gfx-library - written in c#, too.

Yeah you should honestly patent this home interface tech with the lcars interface. I would def. buy one. The home security features make it worth it along with the extras

Let me know when you get it to respond to "Tea, Earl Grey, hot."

Lol, so surprised to see my System47 at the beginning!!! 😉 The whole thing is so cool. Very impressive 👍 Love the aquarium at the end
@DanielSpringwald2 жыл бұрын
In fact, the whole look of the home control was inspired by System 47. If I remember correctly, I even "stole" the colors for my programming 😉
@system472 жыл бұрын
@@DanielSpringwald Lol, it was all inspired by TNG's brilliant fictional UI 😂

THIS IS HIGHLY RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS. The reason I needed to confirm I would marry Germany were it a human being... or some other kind of palpable object. Dude, you kick some heavy asses, kudos to your house.

Probably one of the coolest things I've ever seen!!

@Shaudh The software is self-created in Visual Studio dotnet and the house electric is controlled by knx / eib.

Hi jason879, we left a hole in the wall while building the house and placed the industrial touchscreen-monitor inside it.

If i was rich, i would totally wire my house like that. Nice UI by that way, love that all i would have to do to upgrade is mess with xml.

Technologically, it is not far away at all- in fact it is here. It is the implication of the technology that is distant, not the technology itself.

Hi, it can control the whole house electric like lights etc. including timer programming and security functions. Regards, Daniel

@jagpoag hm, the slow movement was planned to be shure that the people who are interested in details have the chance to get them - and not to be dramatic... Maybe it´s because I normally write software instead of making movies ;-)

This is epic winnage. You sir kick ass!

Its not that bad, the slowness is a small problem since the CPU and RAM can be increased very cheaply.

@XR42 I´m am sorry - no. This german version inside this house is the only existing version. There is no other house using this software - so there is no need for an english version in the german house ;o)

Just awesome and amazing! I'm currently working on a similiar project, a real working Star Trek PADD from TNG with somme commands. However, i'm looking to know how to build the touchscreen part. Can you help me please?
@DanielSpringwald5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I implemented the project 11 years ago. Tips about the components used at that time won't help you much these days. This is for example a VGA monitor.

Do you know what a home automation terminal is? It controls the electric, your light, the home security, the telephon and maybe the coffeemachine etc.. Why should it run applications?
@vvlandi16 жыл бұрын
xa9000 - can you post some technical specifications how you automated it ? Did you use any commercial controllers or is it absolute DIY ? It would be nice to hear your thoughts as I'm struggling for a log time with my own home automation system and sometimes it drives me crazy when it goes to compatibility/usability (actually the very lack of it) in various models available.

@xa9000 well since everyone is hooked to "apps" with the iphone, they always think that everything that has a screen and is touch screen should run apps and play games... lol, anyways, impressive setup. is this the only terminal or are there others? I wish you could show more of what other things it can control. Just for the fun of it. hehe

@DanielSpringwald8 жыл бұрын
+LUIS FERNANDO TORRES what Raspi? what Arduino? This home control is nearly 10 year old - there were no such things like Raspi ;-) It´s built on EIB / KNX, see www.knx.org/knx-en/index.php

Not quite there: lacking the correct sounds, as previously mentioned, and it's very, very slow responding to your input, e.g. navigating to sub-menus.
