Don't use Japanese sword as an axe like what we did. It is not correct, and would cause damage to sword. We do this just for a test.

LD steel (made in China) katana test(58-59HRC). The blade is flat and polished super sharp, under vacuum heat treatment. The advantage of the flat sharp edge is that it can cut the straw mat, green bamboo, mineral water bottle and works great. The disadvantage is that the blade lacks sufficient support, so it's not suitable for cutting hard objects. The bamboo tested is the one with high hardness (especially the bamboo joints) in southern China. The first bamboo is about 1 year old and the second one is about 4+ years old.

😂🤣🥺😭 it makes me sad when I see possibly good katana being destroyed. I'd give it a good home with a steady diet of tatami and pool noodles. lol

Older dry bamboo like that is definitely different to cut than younger supple bamboo! If that were fresh it's likely he would have cut through, or mostly through, with one cut. I live near a bamboo Grove & have cut there for many years on both fresh & dry bamboo. Given the thickness of that bamboo & how dry it was those are good cuts & the sword held up well!

I couldn't be sure if the sword was too blunt ..or the user was too weak ..or the bamboo was too strong.

Very good for fresh Bamboo. Don't they usually cut dried Bamboo?

dried bamboo is too hard and may hurt the blade.

5160 is good steel, better than most steels used katana.

5160 is one of the best steels we have for swords in the modern day. I’d imagine their “LD” steel would perform similarly

That's what we are worried about. At present our output cannot keep up with orders. So we haven't found professional to review yet.

@@z-sey you should send one to Mathew Jensen. You can find him here on KZfaq. Once I see a review from a reliable source like him, my students and I would love to purchase your katana. Until then I personally can't make the investment. Too many people out there trying to sell something that isn't what they claim it to be.
