Rien ne remplacera le livre de Proust, jamais .

Impossible de mettre en scène Proust, tellement sa lecture envoûtante est magique.

"But tonight, at Mme. Verdurin’s, scarcely had the little pianist begun to play when, suddenly, after a high note held on through two whole bars, Swann saw it approaching, stealing forth from underneath that resonance, which was prolonged and stretched out over it, like a curtain of sound, to veil the mystery of its birth-and recognised, secret, whispering, articulate, the airy and fragrant phrase that he had loved. And it was so peculiarly itself, it had so personal a charm, which nothing else could have replaced, that Swann felt as though he had met, in a friend’s drawing-room, a woman whom he had seen and admired, once, in the street, and had despaired of ever seeing her again. Finally the phrase withdrew and vanished, pointing, directing, diligent among the wandering currents of its fragrance, leaving upon Swann’s features a reflection of its smile. But now, at last, he could ask the name of his fair unknown - and was told that it was the andante movement of Vinteuil’s sonata for the piano and violin."

C'était ma réserve sur le film au moment de sa sortie. Elle reste entière aujourd'hui : porter "A la recherche du temps perdu" à l'écran est une quasi-gageure. Jamais l'image ne saura rendre compte des subtilités du langage qui traverse la conscience du narrateur proustien. Cela donne néanmoins au film ce côté "vitrine de l'oeuvre", par laquelle on peut y entrer en daignant en pousser la porte qui fera peut-être tintinnabuler en soi une petite clochette.

I love that Marcel weeps: this music brought into being the love from which his first love, Gilberte Swann, was created.

Je suis américaine et je peux lire Proust sans traduction car j'ai appris votre belle langue en tant qu'enfant mais je trouve autant de plaisir à lire Faulkner ou Shakespeare sans traduction. La chance c'est d'être multilingue! :)

Bonjour ou bonsoir, j'ai étudié proust et donc un amour de swann en classe, mon professeur nous a fait écouter cette sonate et pour tout vous dire je l'apprécie vraiment ! Cela me donne envie de m'intéresser plus à la musique et à la lecture :)

My personal favorite passage on this music (although this particular passage is more about Swann, not the music itself): "Indeed, agonised by the reflection, as it floated by, so near and yet so infinitely remote, that while it was addressed to them it did not know them, he almost regretted that it had a meaning of its own, an intrinsic and unalterable beauty, extraneous to themselves, just as in the jewels given to us, or even in the letters written to us by a woman we love, we find fault with the water of the stone, or with the words of the message, because they are not fashioned exclusively from the essence of a transient liaison and a particular person. " I like how the author caught the transient thought of Swann's that he regretted about music only because the music has intrinsic content of its own that is unrelated, whatsoever, to the romance between himself and Odette.

Creo que la sonata para violín y piano de César Frank es más adecuada, porque su carácter cíclico, recursivo, permite repeticiones de la frase que gustaba a Swan. Saludos desde Chile.

C'est un duo. La "petite phrase" qui lui rappelle son amour avec Odette est jouée par le violon, accompagné au piano. (je lis le livre en ce moment même, j'en suis donc certaine!)

@gillesduchaine t'as raison, moi je regrette de ne pas être francophone (je suis italien) pour la même raison.....j'essaierai quand même de le lire en français, en esperant d'y pénétrer et comprendre toutes le nuances....peut-être le fait de l'avoir déjà lu en italien ça m'aidera !

C'est l'extrait ou Swann entend la petite phrase à la réception de Mme de saint-Euverte. Dans ce passage le pianiste est accompagné au violon.

Of course the music is not revealed in the book. We can guess. I guess Eric Satie who is similar to Proust’s composer.

Questi adattamenti hanno tutti qualcosa di imbarazzante, anzi sembrano una parodia e i personaggi una caricatura grottesca di quelli letterari.
