I’d also say leaders should be teachers. The best times of my career are watching people ‘get it’ and grow into even better positions. If I can help people grow in their careers, that makes me happy!

Absolutely spot-on! Thanks to Dave and other leaders I'm learning to become the best leader I can be. Two excellent leadership books are The Heart of Leadership by Mark Miller and Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink. These two books are phenomenal! It was a true honor for my wife and I to meet Dave in West Palm Beach Florida at a Financial Peace University rally a few years back.

Teach/learn character qualities. Don’t enable, no victim or martyrs. Leaders pull, they know where everyone needs to go, and how to get there.

I LOVED this video! The passion. The knowledge. Dave, you're absolutely right. I love what you said about how bosses push, leaders pull. I'm the organizer of a local community called Tulsa KZfaqrs and I'm trying to find my footing on becoming an effective leader. Your videos are moving me in the right direction. I'm also a huge fan of the Dave Ramsey Show, too :).

My grandmother that I never knew was named Aleda! She had a drive named after her right next to my boyhood home! I think that is pretty cool!

Before he even showed it on the slide, I thought of a leader as disciplined because I see Jocko Willink as a prime example of a leader and that trait embodies his character.
