Well, I will enjoy calling them "Utah 404 not found" for the next season.

Crazy they don't want to give Utah team a name/logo/colors ASAP. I get not wanting to rush it, but you have a lot of new hockey fans in Utah, why not figure out everything before next season?

Speaking of PWHL branding, they announced Bauer is gonna make their jerseys next season. Don’t have any Bauer jerseys but I know they have supplied jerseys for minor leagues before. Still, pretty excited about those teams to get their brands revealed soon!

What's the problem with coming up with a name and team colors? This just goes back to my wish (and I know why they aren't doing it) to just keep the Coyotes name and colors.

For their first year, they should do Coyotes colors, UTAH across the front with a hockey stick or something below. It's basic, it's simple, there's at least an identity to get behind, and they can figure out the final brand for next season.

I kind of like having the Utah on the jersey for 1 year. It'll make a nice collector's item down the line and it doesn't rush the team on picking something meaningful to the area.

It was going to be the maple Leafs coach gone or Boston Coach gone either way you saw it. So no surprise there.

Once Utah chooses a mascot and a jersey design but before they have been produced, they could sell empty boxes like what was done with Star Wars toys for Christmas 1977. Inside the box there would a note saying, "this entitles you to a new Utah jersey on [fill in the date]."

When you think about it, this whole nameless wordmark jersey idea that Ryan Smith is pretty smart, and is going to make him, the team and the league a lot of money. By not committing to a jersey design, logo, or colours in year one, they will effectively be able to make double the sales on jerseys. New fan excitement surrounding the team in their first year will result in lots of sales of these "Year 1" jerseys. Then, once the team name, logo, and colours are chosen, the team can basically turn around and do a repeat of what they did that first year.

I'm guessing Utah needs to start producing gear ASAP and there's no timeline that let's them go through a whole design process before manufacturing for next season begins

Rod is a great coach. A day late and a dollar short with managing the goalie situation this playoffs. Not getting kotch any starts before tonight could be the nail in the coffin for this year. Kotch has been great against nyr this year and I expect another one.

Keefe should be a good coach to hire for a team looking to break into the playoffs.

Is a coaching change going to be the only major change? I really feel like the leafs ought to make some major moves with the core 4 but I don’t know what you can do with the NMC for Marner and only 1 year left for both him and Tavares

Just an FYI I think Utah will have a team name and likely colours before the season starts. All they actually announced was that the jerseys will simply say "Utah" in the first season. So it's the logo and rest of the branding they are pushing to next season.

I was initially sour on the fact that Utah will be nameless for the year. But, thinking about it now, I don't hate it. As a fan of the NFL, the Washington Redskins had to retire their nickname a few years ago for being racist. They became the Washington Football Team for two seasons before their new mascot, the Commanders, was revealed. I initially didn't like the Washington Football Team name but I got around to it. In their case, they had to retire their mascot and needed a quick-fix name but in Utah's case, they're a new team with no name. But one thing that both have in common is that both Arizona's move to Utah and retirement of the Coyotes and the Redskins name officially being retired were both short-notice. Both the NHL and NFL begin their seasons in the fall, (NFL starts in September and NHL starts in October). Deciding a team's colors and mascot takes quite a while and this process shouldn't be rushed. It makes sense that they have a quick-fix name so they don't put forth a hap dash effort. Something like this takes time to properly execute. We shouldn't rush it. Hopefully, after next season, Utah will get a sick color scheme and mascot.

With Utah they should try out a couple color combinations the first year and see which one the fans like the best

I’m not sure if he wants to coach again, but I wonder if someone like Jay Woodcroft would be a good fit in Toronto because the only reason he got fired from Edmonton was that the roster there couldn’t do his plan but Toronto might be able to make that work there.
